Winter Driving

Wanted to know how many of you all have the Z as their only car? How bad is it driving them in the winter days in the DMV or other areas?

non-snow days? That's not winter driving then. ;-)

Its all in the feel. You can drive in snow, sleet, and freezing rain just fine so long as you know where the "breaking" point is for the car. If you feather the throttle until the moment feel the car accelerating "horizontally", and let off, then you know how much throttle input the car can take before she sends you off into the trees. :icon17:

Works for me in my S2K, which is a twitchy car even when the pavement is warm and dry as a bone. And I can't speak for the other 370Z ppl on the board, but I've driven my S through two Maryland/DC/NoVA winters with no accidents or anything. Only thing that ever happens is your car getting all dusty from all the road salt. :shakes head: Definitely not looking forward to that.

We won't mention the rust and general deterioration from that road salt...

Well, since my soon-to-be 370Z is not my only car, you'll only see me long after snow has melted from a storm and long after road salt has dissipated. But it will be driven in winter. Nothing worse than letting a car sit.

I edited the snow part just for you.. I also wrote you on youtube which you've already responded too. I didn't realize you were on this board.

thanks Jon & 370

Ah that was you on youtube. I normally don't reply to those ;-) But to answer that question here, I do not plan on driving the Z in snow. I'll drive it in the winter months, but when it's snowy the handy dandy Taurus will get me to work.

I work as a firefighter in the DC area, and the Z is my daily commuter! Not really all that concerned about it, I drive from West Virgina to MoCo county MD. Honestly, having seen the previous 4 winters here, they always keep the highways clean, and thats really all that I need. After a while, everything will just turn to ice, and no car can help you in that!

My Z is going to be in the garage!

Mine is not my daily driver so I have the luxury of driving it only when its sunny and dry out! That said, I grew up in Alaska so driving in snow and ice was something you learned real early there. The hardest part for most people is learning how to handle the car when it gets sideways on you and learning to turn into the direction of the slide. Where I come from that was the fun part of driving!
