My problem with the Haltech was that it could only run one drive by wire throttle and not 2 which pushed me to an M150.
I purchased an M150 package from the US which would suit the M150 and run the OEM CANBUS from VITVIPER (an independent tuner who now works for Motec in the US). We had 2 sessions with Vitaly logged onto our laptop here and it was fairly simple. A local Haltech expert will clearly be better.
The new Haltech ECU is more capable .... and a suitable alternative
There is an option to dispense with the VVEL altogether by removing the stepper motors and locking the VVEL at max lift ... my race car has this and is driven by a M600 Motec with a DBW add-on box although it is being upgraded to the M150 and 6 ITB setup.
I would strongly consider "locking" the VVEL as it is a PITA to deal with. A pair of snails will give you all the grunt you need (LoL).
