Finally!
I ended up removing the shield. I started hearing it vibrate with the exhaust.

Thanks. Res test pipes and the f.I. 12". Sounds incredible. I took this pic when I was getting new tires. I did the install on jack stands. It was the worst.

I also installed my Stillen exhaust with the car on jack stands. Yes it did suck but it was very rewarding to know that I did it myself and the car sounded more like what a Z should sound like.
