So after much reading I purchased a clutch pedal return spring before actually buying my new Z. Well it turns out that I'm not having any problems with the clutch and it feels perfectly fine. I stalled the engine once but could be the radio was too loud and I wasn't paying enough attention.
Anyways I have this new spring that I won't use so I am offering it up for sale. If anyone can use it I will sell it for $40.00 CDN or $31 USD shipped.
The stock assist spring that comes with the car results in extremely poor clutch feel. The feel is vague and effort linear throughout the stroke of the pedal masking the actual start of the friction zone/engagement point. In the long run, clutch disc wear is increased because of needless clutch slipping while trying to find the engagement point.
By replacing the stock spring with the one in this listing, clutch pedal feedback is greatly improved. The pedal now has a progressive action, with low effort needed at the bottom (near the floor) of the pedal stroke, and increasing effort as the pedal is raised. The actual characteristics of the pressure plate are now readily felt. Because of this, clutch control is much more precise. No more guessing where it might start to grab.
PM me if you want it. Bump. -

Enjoying Easter Sunday and probably more so the fact that I picked up my base 2016 370z yesterday. I've driven about 175 kilometers and I must say the clutch has not been all that bad. I have had 5 manual transmission vehicles over the years and some truck driving experience. The clutch pedal is rather heavy compared to a Honda but it's been 20 years since I drove Mt car. I had a 68 Mustang with a big block engine which had a stiffer pedal. I need to strengthen my left leg in order to get things perfectly smooth but pride myself in not stalling the engine yet.
The base radio sounds pretty good with base that you can feel in the seats. Engine needed 2/3 of a litre of oil at 20 km. Most likely not checked at dealer. Fluids and tire pressures good.
I want to thank everyone for all of the information posted on this site so that I didn't have any surprises when getting this car. It's turned out to be far nicer than I expected but then it's also been 29 years since I bought a brand new car. This will be for pleasure use during non winter months and here's hoping the shine doesn't wear off too soon!
