The consensus is that it is most likely left over machining bits from assembly and nothing to worry about. I'm certainly not going to worry about it - if its a problem, I'll find out soon enough. ...

Don't just assume it is rod knock. It could be the clutch or something else. I have fixed a V-band Belt that had lost part of the V sound just like Rod knock.

I would not add any mods, mods are more of a personal choice as to how you like your Z. KBB/CarFax any of those places do not have a section for mods... Just keep it stock if you are going to sell...
