I dont see the purpose of those types of intakes, i mean there being blocked by the front bumper, so how is it that they're receiving air?

East/west: I have mounted temp sensors in both stock intakes (in the filter), in the plastic area where the stock air enters, as well as where the gen 3's go. Where the gen 3's go gets to ambient temperature faster than the heat wash from the radiator can be dissipated. At a red light the temperature at the filters and in front of the intake quickly climbs to 130+ degrees. The G3 area is usually about 10-20 degrees over ambient. Once the car is going it drops close to ambient temperature. This is with the stock bumper/fascia so I'm not sure what other aftermarket ones would do.
