That is the correct instructions, we did it on my car today but make sure you time the steps. I think we messed up the first time by turning the car off after step 9.

Did you pull the battery terminal first before starting? I swear I've timed this at least 20 times and didn't once see the CEL (MIL?) light flash once. I didn't pull the battery terminal though

Oh I know that, but it also steps you thru the re-learn procedure. I think thats what you were asking for. ;)

12.9 has to be with engine off.... if your voltage reads 12.9 while engine is on, then an alt is within someones future ;)
