You already know my opinion on negative posts. It never ceases to amaze and dissapoint me to see how dismissive and insulting some people can be if they don't agree with someone elses views on how to best enjoy the car that they paid good money for. I can't understand why someone is insulted because some of us here are concerned about the cabin noise in the Z. That's like me being insulted because my Z is silver and yours is white and "I just don't get it" as to you wanting a white car-It's just sooo wrong!
Tell me can you hear the sound of small pebbles hitting the inside wheel well? The kind of sand they use to put on roads along with the salt when there is snow and ice? I can hear them quite clearly and this suggests to me that more can be done to silence the rear .. what thinkest yee?
I would love to do it my self but dont dare.. i manage to screw up even wall papering! I have seen those sights you talk about back in the 60s when I traveled across the country going from here to Norton AFB San Bernadino. You sure make it sound great!! If we were not going to Italy I would definitely go and ( between the two of us) I would prefer cruising the great American highways than go to Italy. Not that I dont appreciate Italy but I just got this car and I am anxious to use it and between the noise and the snow, its not easy! Check your email as I will send you a pick looking right out our window.. you look at the pic and tell me if its 370Z driving time in the NE!!
Contnued: All this stuff can add up to some real $$ as you are finding out. Have you considered doing it yourself? The materials would run about $200.00 plus your time. If you're not into that sort of thing maybe it's time to get your hands dirty. The satisfaction of doing it yourself, your way, for WAY less money can be very rewarding. Do you have a garage and a few hand tools? This is not rocket science. Or, I'm guessing your are about my age (61) are you retired? Have the stuff shipped to my place and and see the USA in your Nissan, we can do it here. The weather has been spectacular and you could pick up Route 66 in Chicago, see the Grand Canyon sunrise, Vegas at night, Palm Springs (do you golf? If so you'll be in heaven there), Laguna Beach (we're just a dozen miles away as the crow flies), Hollywood (everyone needs to check out the Griffith Park Observatory), drive up the coast or whatever. Can you say Road Trip?!
Remember the "blanket test" I had you do sometime back? Well do it again for several days and see if you get a noticeable improvement. If you don't see much of an improvement then you might not find additional sound deadener beneficial. If the improvement is significant then you can add more Dynamat and add Luxury Liner Pro or you could just leave the blankets in the hatch as a quick and dirty solution.
