Good deal, sounds like the engine is fine. Wiring is the next place to look. Sounds like you may have broken wire in the harness. It happens.

^^ exactly, there is no purpose to spinning the engine until the timing chain marks are aligned. Just make sure cylinder 1 is TDC and you are safe to take it apart. The colored links on the chain...
