HeadUnit install
Lots of wires....I hate wires. Notice on the left hand side under the ignition plug in. I think that is where it is grounded. Could this be why I am still hearing a bit of white noise when the unit is on?

that ground is not a good spot at all.. its all plastic around it if I recall correctly. I am surprised it is working at all. Make sure you ground out to something metal.

Will do Mitco. I am not great at electronics, but even I thought there was something fishy about that. I have given up on letting anyone do anything with my Z, this was the DEALERSHIP install. Pretty pissed that Certified Radio didn't pick up on it and do a fix. Would just be common courtesy in my mind....

If that is the ground for the whole stereo then the HU could be forced to pull the ground by other means, which would give you static and all sorts of issues. Not sure if you have the nav or not, but I just grounded mine to one of the two screws that hold the nav screen in.

I am still waiting for my AVIC-Z140BH to arrive, supposed to be sometime today, and will sort everything out. Thanks for the input
will update. Oh, and I don't have the nav package. The dealership's way of dealing with not being able to get me one with the nav package was to install the AVIC-X940BT for me. Must have had some promotion with pioneer or something at the time.

In behind that screw is metal, I just moved the ground on to the other side. I guess its the best spot really, just tried to get a better metal connection. I am pretty sure that isnt causing the white noise, it still happens, and the wiring for these units is really messy. I am sure something is jammed up against something that doesnt like it back there
