Dumb question, but what are the ramps for?

The chin spoiler will hit the ramps if I drive straight up on them. I put the 2x12 board in front of the ramp to give it an extra 2" lift before driving up the ramps. In effect the chin spoiler doesn't contact the ramps. I put a small bevel on the boards so the the tire would roll up on it easily.
