    Sorry to say, but I think the manufacturer wins over you. Have you heard both in person? I specifically bought cf because I knew it was higher pitched and I wanted that exotic/European sound.

    I think sound waves bounce off of carbon fiber more completely than stainless steel. Stainless steel absorbs a bit more of the sound wave as it hits, so it muffles the sound slightly better...
