It was $780 for the part then like $300 for labor..it's a dealership, so I'm sure they overcharged me. So you bought the part from them and did the install yourself?? That would have saved me some money..If something goes wrong again I'll make sure I get your advise before I payout a bunch of money

No you dont have to do any kind of programming its a waste of money don't do it. if you got a lock from dealer it should start right away without any programming.
