how bout a fiberglass mold instead of wood?just a thought..

If I had to do it over again, I would probably still use MDF for two reasons: 1. never worked with fiberglass 2. after building this prototype, I could build a 2nd box much quicker. However, for $350 bucks or so you can pick up that new box from Wicked. Much cleaner and nicer install than mine, and price is affordable.

1. 'glass is sooo easy to work with 2. i built one, same idea for a buddy's WRX out of 'glass for about $75 Canadian.
Point is don't let 'glass scare you, you can save a ton of time and money, and in this case weight.
