Here's a photo of the Z in extreme rain condition at the track. Heavy rain or road debris with some weight will still kick backward towards the end of the car. Where as high pressure turbulent air...

This helps with reducing lift from the turbulent air generated around the wheel. The highest pressure point is at the top. It will also help with brake cooling since it also allows air to exit.

There will be a need to modify and cut the fender liner to allow air to exit. Our car that gets driven often on the road and tracked often fortunately hasn't seen debris kicked up through the vents....
