    its not hard at all to remove it. I was worried too before I removed mine. Just grab it firmly and twist.

    I just replaced mine and no problems after 6 months with the new "updated" cable. Sucks you have to pay for a cable that came with the kit and has gone bad after a just a year of it being used but...
