Now you are correct, the CEL light should not be on. There are two things that would cause this.
#1 if the 3 bolt flange between the top of the cat and the exhaust manifold do not have e a good seal. Meaning if there is an exhaust leak there.
#2 if either of the O2 sensors got contaminated or damaged during the installation process.
If you are certain that neither of these are the case, I would then just reset the ECU, make sure the codes have been cleared and see what happens. It may never come back. If it does, then you will need to scan the codes and go from there.
