I would do it in a heartbeat if the Z was my DD and/or only car. Several people have installed small receivers to pull tire and tool trailers to the track.

I think you made the right move. I concur on the IPP recomendation. I have had my TT for about 9 years now and I have always heard good things about them on tt.net.

Haha, actually that isn't my Z in the pic of the bike rack. Someone was asking if it could be done on the forum and I my wife and I drove by that set up the next day. I had her hanging out of the passanger window like a lunatic to get that shot. I think the driver thought we were nuts... we where in the Xterra, not a Z at the time. I do have a swing away Yakima for the X though.

Yep, it was just time. On the 289 it appeared one of the conical keepers for a valve decentigrated over time and finally just let go, dropping the valve into the top of the piston.

The way I drive my TT, that's always in the back of my mind. It is a fairly fresh build though and the VG motors are usually pretty bullet proof at the HP I am running... under 500rwhp on pump gas.

Really sorry to see/hear that! Always admired your Z. Best of luck with the new motor and swap.

I grenaded a 289 like that once. The largest piece of the piston that the valve hit would have fit in the palm of your hand and there was a pretty big hole in the cylinder wall. Strangely, I wasn't getting on it (and hadn't that day) when it let go.
