Are you running 4 or 8 AWG through the grommet?

It's 8 AWG wire. The hole is about 3/8", maybe even 1/2" diameter, so it should take 4 AWG wire. I'm using a Infinity Reference 475a Amp and it is only 300watts (75w per channel) so 8 AWG is plenty.

Did you need to seal the grommet with strip caulk or anything?

No, just poke a hole in the factory grommet with an awl and it will seal nice and tight arouund the wire. Also the grommet is sheilded from the elements inside a separate compartment.
