    But yeah, generally, self protection mode generally is reported for those who take their vehicles to the track. The interesting aspect, though, is that other high performance cars on the same tracks do not get that hot.

    Actually, reports of self-protection (limp mode) are reported sometimes for freeway driving in hit weather and, it appears, at higher altitude.

    Limp mode ONLY happens at the track (like HPDE type racing which is 15-20 minutes). Daily driving, I have yet to move the temp needle past 230 degrees F (limp mode activates about 280-290 F)
