I would say that the light strips in the monitor have crapped out or that your dimming is all the way down. PM me for more talk

so you do comp repairs too? I have an HP dv5000 laptop and the screen stopped working. its not completely black, you can still see the color of the desktop and when you move the mouse. and it works find if I hook it up to an external monitor. I replaced the screen inverter but it still doesnt work. Any ideas?
