Making an IPL a True IPL - 2011 G37 Build Thread
I bought the car last October with 33,XXX miles and have been in love with it ever since. This will be my summary of all the modifications I have done and plan to do. Any comments, insight, or help is greatly appreciated and if you have any questions for me feel free to PM. Alright, so this is a Malbec Black IPL. The IPL from the factory is a great base but I hope to make this one a bit more unique (maybe with a hint of sleeper). Got some parts in this weekend and thought I would have a go at them on this Martin Luther king day holiday.
CSF Radiator is in. Minor hicup on the positioning but with a bit of convincing from the Dremel, the radiator in there snug as a bug. Great looking piece of kit, much thicker than the stock radiator and the polished edges really set it off. Comes with top notch aluminum fittings and some great looking welds. A quick before and after... Stock radiator in the middle of removing. Radiator out. And with the CSF (I apologize for the poor lighting) Once I got the radiator in I began to tackle the power steering cooler kit and oil cooler kit from Stillen. The Oil Cooler is giving me some struggles with the lines routing. I've got the power steering cooler plumbed and mounted, but am still determining which is the best way to route the oil lines. Here is how they sit now.. Going to take another look at it tomorrow and see if I can get it sorted out. Another thing on the list that showed up is the South Bend Stage 3 Daily Clutch/Flywheel kit. Looking forward to putting it in next weekend. Clutch: Flywheel: Anyway, a long Monday but a exciting weekend with a few new parts to tackle in the coming weeks. Cheers. Got 1/2 of the oil coolers in today along with the power steering cooler. I will be running two with the BP kit. Finally got the oil lines routed and everything put back in order.
Also, working on where I am going to locate these goodies in the cabin. Thinking the ash tray location for the Profec boost controller and glove box for the AF gauge. |

Call mister Gale and get a custom pillar. You are gonna my to want the innovate gauge in view at all times. What are you using for boost gauge?

That pillar gauge set up looks awesome. The craftsmanship on that pillar is excellent. I have a vision on this one to keep it as sleeper as possible. My line of thought was to have oil pressure, temp, and A/F in the glove box arranged similar to this:
That way I could close it up and out of the way if necessary. Also, My thought was that I could run my EBC, the greddy model, as a boost gauge? If this isn't the case I'll have to re-think. Another delivery this week was the Zspeed proper clutch slave cylinder assembly. First thing on the documentation was a recommendation to replace the clutch master cylinder as well.. Therefor I got one on the way. As far as the CSC goes, it looks great and the base looks much better than the OEM non metallic which has only produced problems. That's pretty sweet for a glovebox setup to keep it sleeper. I just like having AFR gauge in my face so I know immediately if something is off. Of course I watch it like a hawk. Damn engineer analness.
My Greddy EBC reads boost pressure but I prefer an analog gauge to a digital on boost cuz I pick it up by position. The beauty of these builds is we each set them up he way we want So for your progress |

A few small items while I wait for the big stuff.
I have made some head way on the boost controller mounting. Here it is in the process. I have it all mounted where I want it. Now to get the foam wrapped in a fabric. Haven't decided on that part yet. One other thing went on the car this week.. I really like it. Simple, but for me it adds a lot to the interior. The white one is just boring in my mind.
