Chance build

My original Z was a base PW 370z with the GTM STG 2 TT kit (DestinyZ). I sold it for multiple reasons and one was because I wanted to have a nismo and start over. So I bought "Chance" (can you guess how I came up with the name) I got it used about 1.5 years ago and have managed to avoid modifying the car until now. The car has a MXP CBE, injen CAI, TE-37 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 +22 bronze wheels, carbon fiber hood (don't know the brand) and HRE spacers. A little update for my first post on here. So no one offers a TT setup with the parts I want and I do not really want to go single although it was highly considered with the BP V2 kit that was put out but still I was not sure. I looked and I looked, thought about the Greddy but its 8K without fuel or a tune/tuner. Then the wife asked me, "why don't you just do your own single turbo kit?" The wheels started to move, I got on the internet and then they started spinning. Next thing I know I order everything under the sun and here I am, trying to make a TT setup without taking out the stock headers (will do later down the road with garage) and trying to do it cheaply but not with low quality parts. Doing stuff like purchasing used parts off the forum, seemed liked all the used parts I needed started coming out after I had ordered them new. So here I am, I like to build and make things so this will do me well. I hope ppl can enjoy it as much as I will, ill be taking the headaches though :tiphat:

I suppose my goals for the car would be big power and look good doing it .....too typical? Really my goal is to make 800+WHP and be in the 10's in the 1/4 mile while spending the least amount of $$$ I can but that's a long reach, who knows.

So far I have ran the 1/4 two times in the car and managed a 13.7 @ 104mph on some bald tires, excuses I know but they really are. Should be fun :happydance:

Got a chance today for some looks at fitment and clocking the turbos. Think I have a good Idea on placement and how im going to clock them and the only thing that may be a little tricky is getting the oil drain to be at a good angle but we will see.

Order some straight/45/90 degree short let piping and flanges so hopefully next weekend I will be able to get time for serious work and get some progress going.

I wont be doing any internal work until this part is all done, it gets cold in WA and I don't have a garage quite yet so its all outdoors :)

Here we go, working in the street again...

This was the "sigh....****...." moment for today. I new it was tight but ****, I walked away for a minute and went back under. it then started to look like a good amount of space:

Get an idea of how I want to mount and clock the turbos. Didn't realize how much space the driver side does not have but the passenger was cake.

Good stuff man!

And you might have the coolest looking dog and cat I've seen!

FPenvy 10-20-2014 09:15 AM

did you have to shave your rear brake calipers to get those ROTA's to fit?

someone else told me thats the only way those fit over sport brake calipers, hence why i never went through with buying a set since i am not shaving my calipers lol

niko86 10-20-2014 11:38 AM

subbed!

I am running the same turbo on my other car (S14a EUDM SR20DET), you will be pleasantly surprised on how fast they are spooling and how aweseome they sound!

yes you do, the wheels ALMOST fit. Pretty much just take off the paint and sliver of the caliper.

ugh i dont think i could bring myself to do that.

i'd honestly rather shave a strip in the wheel lol

the wheels are only 250 a piece. the calipers cost more so they stay 100% the same lol

aszyd 10-25-2014 11:29 AM

I wouldn't shave anything. You can buy 2.5 mm spacers from Z1 and probably other places. Even if you have to buy longer studs, it's totally worth it to not take the ghetto way out.

didnt know they had that small of spacers. if that was all that was needed to not rub the calipers then i would have bought the wheels and rubber already lol

like i said i found those 18x12 ROTAS (yes i know they have a terrible rep) for $275 a piece. then 350-400 a tire for some MT DR's and i'd be in business lol

this guy^ doesn't know rotas rub in the barrel not on the face and no number of spacers can get them to fit(depending on which model, i went to buy some from a guy (4 for 375 in good condition with tires yeah rotas are so cheap they devalue the tire mounted on them) and was like sweet they clear the caliper until i noticed i couldn't turn the wheel.

i'm half tempted to go buy the 2 19x11 TE37's off that guy only selling the rears and make them into drag wheels lol
