I haven't receive anything else from the man yet. I'm sure he is slaving away shoveling snow, working his full time job, doing his weekly "honey day" choirs and smiling at the piles and piles of turbo stuff in his garage. I try and post updates of parts and stuff on my build thread as I receive them.

Do yourself a favor and header wrap everything before it goes on. Just because you don't NEED anything else to install doesn't mean it's not a damn good idea.

I did plan on wrapping the pipes at first but after some reading, I decided no to.

Deciding to not wrap the pipes is a bonehead decision. You're going to hate life when all the wires and connectors get brittle from the heat and break when you touch them. Or you melt a wastegate line. Don't be lazy. Wrap the pipes.

I agree. Especially after seeing the connectors under your car when you thought ceramic coating would have you covered.

If nothing else bag the ******* turbo. But I would wrap all hot side piping and get thermotec for all the vacuum lines and wiring in the area.

There's some of the updated photos. I'm realizing now that I did not grab a good one of the new turbo cover installed but it's a much better flow path.

V1.5 Upgrade - Overall I'm happy with the upgrade. The turbo spools better and the throttle response is better. It's definitely easier to install than the V1.0 kit and being the second time around with the IC piping install I did a much better job zip tying rubber to prevent knocking and just did a generally better job of installing everything.

Pros:
- No more turbo coupler clamp thru the passenger wheel. The new charge pipe is much much easier to get into place.
- Easier to clock the turbo. I infact was able to adjust the clocking with the turbo installed to get the coupler angle perfect.
- Having the GReddy Thermostat plate previously, this upgrade eliminated two complete oil lines. Just one for you guys that have the non-thermostat V1.0.
- The IC piping route is just better this time around. I believe that and not having the 90 on the compressor cover equate to a better overall spool/throttle response.
- The IC Piping is now powder coated.

Cons:
- Getting the 4th turbo flange bolt installed is pretty tricky and takes a little time. Nothing as frustrating as the old coupler location, but still takes a bit of effort.
- The turbo charge pipe is now the lowest point of my car (you can see if in the photos). I don't think I lost any effective high-center distance because it is still pretty close to the front tires but it is the lowest point. It is NOT tucked up above the sub-frame.

Overall I'm happy I made the upgrade. I did make more power at the same baseline but I also went from a Stillen CBE to a FI CBE so I cannot contribute all the gains to the V1.5 upgrade. The major reason I upgraded was to eliminate the oil lines and make future turbo service easier.

Should you upgrade? If you are happy with your setup now, you have no oil leaks issues or concerns about running additional oil lines, have no issues with servicing the turbo in the V1.0 configuration, then it probably isn't worth the additional cost, time and retune.

I assume that you are talking about the turbo flange bolt, at the top, closest to the compressor cover. It helps if the oil reservoir is off the turbo, but yes, it is the toughest bolt to get at on the manifold..

On the IC pipes, as a result of your reviews, I will update the pipe and send you that section at no charge….

The pipe that goes under the transmission and couples to the turbo will be made from two pieces and coupled with a silicone coupler (vs single pipe). The other change is that the section going under the transmission, and in to the compressor outlet will be 2.25” vs 2.5”. This is the same size as the compressor outlet inside diameter, so it is not a reduction.

This will allow for better clearance, and give the installer flexibility in this section.

Here is the two pieces side by side:

On the left you can see how the (new revised) lower pipe slides in to the upper pipe. This is where the flexibility will happen, making the install even easier. If, for some reason, somehow this pipe is damaged on the road, over a bump…whatever, I will send a replacement at no charge, and cover the shipping.

Sasha you da man! You are always improving the kit and taking care of us. Many should take a lesson from the way you treat customers.

The bolt you described is the exact bolt I was referring to and I did in fact pull the oil reservoir to get at it. You are awesome to send me a new set of pipes as it is definitely not required of you but that's just the business man you are.
