My Z34 Build
 

So.. here is the build for my 2011 Solid Red 6MT T/S/N 370z. I absolutely love this car, and that's the reason I decided to heavily modify it instead of buying a Corvette, or any other high horsepower beast. I go to all the shows/meets/hangouts I can, I love the car world and plan on sticking with it. At this time I have no desire to get rid of the Z, but times change. I never thought I'd sell my heavily modded Wrangler, and that changed. Here we go.. any questions/comments/critiques please let me know! I'll constantly be updating this with pictures and status updates, as well as plans, thoughts and information pertaining to this car.. for my own record and for others to have a place to go if they want info on the whole project. -Steven

Update 4/5/2014: finally got the car on the dyno today, but we were losing fuel at the top end. gotta check a couple things, talked to Sam@GTM and he recommended putting a fuel pressure gauge in and seeing what was happening, he said it might be a bad pump. Gonna pull the fuel bowl out again and check things, kinks, etc. Only did a couple pulls but couldn't get it to stop leaning out at the end.. the strainer at the bottom of the fuel pump on the pickup was touching the bowl so i think that's the issue. Timing wasn't touched from the stock GTM ROM file, so there's still a bit of power to gain.. car ran good though other than that horrible lean condition at the end :( first run, which the video is of, the car made 459whp on the original gtm canned tune. car for now is rev limited to keep it out of the lean spot at the end.. :tiphat:

Picked up my FMIC and associated piping. Thermal dispersant (lets heat out) coating on intercooler back, thermal barrier coating on pre-intercooler pieces (keeps heat out). He explained it better than me. Performance Coatings in Auburn, WA... Stoked to get these on the car tonight

Moar stuff buttoned up and put back together, and also bought half chromed turn signal bulbs.. I didn't wanna lose functionality of the turn signals, but wanted to kill that horrible 'egg yolk' look. these did a good job, the orange isn't all gone but it really helped. left headlight with half chrome bulb, right is stock.

Thanks man! Me too, excited to finally get it running. Just got off work, so gonna go work on it some more so Friday all I need to do for the most part is finish wiring stuff.. my least favorite part..

Did you sell your Z yet? I was drooling over your journal, gorgeous car, great work.. makes me want that Zele kit more and more, lol

Haha I've done the same thing in the past few months. Got very close to trading it in or selling it for an Z51 C6 Corvette, then a Z06, then strongly considered the new C7, 135 beemer... it never ends.. I love my Z.. and I see maybe one 370 a week here, Corvettes, mustangs, Camaros, etc are everywhere. Makes me love the Z even more lol

Your thoughts about keeping the Z and adding power sums up my own. A GT500 and I were having fun, and even that guy gave me a thumbs up and a "not bad" look on his face afterwards. It looked like a 13' by the black middle tail lights and the front HID lights (plastic hood vent too). All I know is it was fast as f@ck. While I was spinning through 2nd, he was hooking and moving out. When he tucked behind and I mashed it, I was surprised to see he didnt reel me in. I then gave him the thumbs up and "not bad" look for good measure. Point is, power was all she needed :)

Yessir! And if I can play with a GT500 I'd be stoked :) Those things do look badass, I like em. I have a red older GT500 that lives near me, I can't wait to see him and play a bit :tup: I can't imagine your car with the twin blowers. Jelly!

The Z just gets so much love. I never thought I'd own a red car either, and when I stumbled upon it at an Infiniti dealership with 250 miles I was skeptical. I was there to test drive the Gs. Ended up leaving with the Z. Old guy couldn't fit his cooler in the trunk.. rofl.. and the MPG he had got, I still can't get.. and this car just keeps growing on me and growing on me

update, though: Sam sent me my oil cooler! It'll be here tomorrow. If i can get my supercharge ROM from him the car will fire this week :tiphat:

Great progress! I love how the headlights came out.

Me too, can't wait to see how it all ties together once it's reassembled. I think I need to paint the wheels gunmetal to match the shrouds in the lights.

so, in other news... IT RUNS! Still waiting on the tune from Sam, he said I should see it in my inbox in 30 minutes or so. Hopefully, it comes in. Other than some wiring to finish up and stuff to button up, the car (if the tune comes in) will be ready for its first shakedown tonight or tomorrow. More videos to come, once the torturous 65 mile breakin is done :rofl2:

Coming along nicely, IMO. Gonna drive it a bit, double check there's no leaks and throw the front bumper back on :)

Couple updated pictures, car runs awesome. I think I have a slight boost leak, I gotta try and adjust my BPV. Tune will come next week I think, it's pretty solid how it is, just rich. Car got it's first love at a small meet today, it felt really good to have people give good feedback.. Especially about doing all the work myself. Really excites me for this seasons shows and meets, now I just need some more exterior stuff... blah lol. Think I'm gonna paint the stock wheels a metallic gunmetal kinda grey to go along better with the headlights.. Gonna order a CarbonSignal duckbill spoiler in CF, may cut the front slats out of the front bumper, and gonna just slightly tint the tail lights. Tires also, maybe even a 305 in the back on sport wheels. so many ideas, lol

Saw your results in your SC thread. Those are fantastic numbers. Get that fuel problem solved and get that hammer down!

Yessir! I'm very happy with what it made, and they didn't even really tune it.. looking to be close to 500whp, so I'll be really happy once I get this fuel issue fixed lol till then, it's rev limited to before it starts to lean out.. so still 420whp to play with till then :tup:
