The stock wiring for the fuel pump uses thin wires. Apparently when you install these upgraded fuel pumps, they have trouble getting the voltage they need through that wiring. The solution is to run some thick gauge wiring straight from the battery through a relay and to the fuel pump basket. Some cars get lucky and get by with the stock wiring.
