Uggh

Went to Fast Intentions for a small 1 hour job. In the process, Tony discovered bad differential bushings. Time to replace. Not going back to OEM so I'm looking for Whitelines or SPL. The latter is much more expensive. I have to baby the car for a little bit until I can get is scheduled back at F.I. or Corner 3.

My car up on a lift. For some reason my driver side bracket needed to be re-welded. One hour job and I was out. I met Blake and saw his boosted Z and saw his dad's GTR. The red one below.

Tony's shop is clean, yes there were some boxes or parts laying around but it is clean. I like well run and well kept shops.

Well Halo there......

More headlight shots. My son saw and loved how nice it looked. Got so many thumbs up on these lights since I got it done.

I need a better camera. Sorry guys.

So, for your headlights, you used four STi-R clear lenses? One for each projector and one for each signal light?

Trips 07-21-2014 01:08 AM

I might suggest to replace the amber looking parking lights to 6k leds :ugh2:

They came out great! :)

The two stock projectors were replaced. One set was STi R the other was either the TSX r or FX r. I compared between the STi and the OEM headlights. The stock projectors had rings that you can see when examined. The replacements were clearer and void of any imperfections. On my way home, i can tell how much better these projectors were. The lines were distinctive. The signal light was cut open and the projectors were put in it's place using epoxy.

Thanks G. Let me do some research on the 6k LEDs. It might have better temps too so I might just do that.

Clarification:

The headlight projector is the STi-R 3". I measured and it is a tad under 3. The top is either the 2.5" TSX-R or FX-R projectors. Paperboy retrofitted the base of the housing on the signal light projectors with an aluminum plate and then painted with high-temp paint.

Thanks for the info, bro.

On another topic. My differential bushings are busted, started to leak, and needs to be replaced. The bad news is the repairs dipped into my Fujimura fund. The great news is it'll be replaced with Whitelines by Seb at Specialty Z and will get tuned after.

The Fujimura kit will be on hold. Timing couldn't have been worse. They are on sale at Bespoke/370ZTune. Photoshop courtesy of cooltoy.

Santa Ynez Wine Run

This was three weeks ago just before the headlight mod.

Did a wine run to Santa Ynez just a couple of hours north of Valencia, CA. No idea that the differential bushings were bad. Not until after the mod and a visit to F.I.

Differential Bushings replaced.

Went to Specialty Z to replace the differential bushings. It was beat up so enough of the silicone mess and got Whitelines installed. The change in drive quality is quite noticeable. Glad I went with this. Tony actually caught it and was the one who brought it up while she was up on a lift. He could not get me in so I went to Seb at SpecialtyZ.

Andrew (DEpointfive0) being his usual self offered to help and hook me up. Thanks for offering to help Andrew. Always thought you were a great guy. I'll still buy you a beer even if your buddy never got to do it.

In the end. Car runs great.

Uprev Tune at Specialty Z

After the differential bushing was replaced, she had a tune at Specialty Z. Seb did his magic. I like the improvement out of this tune.

Baseline HP/TQ was 283.56 / 235.97
First run 305.56 / 248.38
Second run 308.18 / 247.75
Final run 312.03 / 272.23
5 Maps

davwak 08-05-2014 07:16 PM

That is an impressive improvement in torque over the three runs. +/- 10%? Nice.

Thanks! 283.56 / 235.97 to a final pull @ 312.03 / 272.23

+10% HP and +15% Torque gained after the tune. Not to mention improved gas mileage. 19.2 to 25 ave mpg. We'll see long term what it looks like.

Here's the 2nd pull. Sounds the same as the first but it sounds great. I wish I had pro audio for recording, at least a muffled mic.

Thanks guys! Last time I drove her was Friday night. Back in today from Chitown and drove her a little bit today. She's running great and really like how she pulls.

Future mods will be a Fujimura diffuser and the SZ Clutch & Flywheel Kit with the Tilton slave. I'm having 2nd thoughts about the Fujimura bumper. I really like how my current front lip is looking right now. Maybe switching to CF with the same paint scheme plus finding a way to install a CF fang cover.

Scoping out the FI threads and it is very tempting and enlightening. Definitely not ready now but certainly intrigued by the possibility of doing this in the future. The new standard is 500 hp and 450 minimum torque and I'm not there.

I am so jealous of the scenery you have for back drops. I have nothing for good photos where i live, just miles and miles of corn or strip malls :(

beautiful shots, Id love to have the fuji kit as well best looking kit out there imo

axmea? 08-18-2014 01:43 AM

Yeah I see what you mean with the scenery. CA is a beautiful state. it has it's downsides but overall, nice place to live with all it's beauty.

As for the Fuji, I will have to wait on that. I'm thinking a nice clutch, flywheel, and CSC upgrade will go first. The sunline looks good for now and really like how it looks on the car.

axmea? 09-01-2014 02:11 PM

So just going through some mods and wondered how I missed this. I think this is a mod. Signed May 25, 2013.

Axmea..you should continue the same design as the front bumper with the black vinyl color all around..do just the lip part on sides and rear spats to complete the look or remove the black from the front all together..just 2 cents..coming from one of your biggest fans of your 370z. Stay with your setup up front...don't think anyone else is running that setup with the s-tune nose diffuser..;-)

axmea? 09-04-2014 10:00 AM

Hey bud. Thanks! I like that idea actually. It's been suggested by Waizz as well but I've been too lazy. I will get to it though. The finisher is not common you're right. Only a couple and I think Luciano is one other in the forum. I'm sure there are others but have not posted.
