Your car looks great (from a fellow 40th owner)! I see you're working on the Z1 Oil cooler kit... any tips or tricks you'd like to share regarding the install? I'm about a order a kit from John in the next few days and any advice would be appreciated!

Meulen 12-16-2013 05:39 PM

Thx guys

Tips on the oil cooler. Be very careful drilling near the radiator. Put a block of wood in front if it. Take off the wiper fluid reservoir for easier routing of the oil lines

Got a little teaser from my painter today

Is the tube welded at an angle or do you have to attach the filter at that angle to get it to fit? I'm thinking about getting G3s, but it looks jimmy rigged in pictures sometimes.

I had no problem with the G3. The tubes are bent at an angle like that. It fit perfect. One thing I can say is you kinda need to leave all the fittings loose and twist things around. Things will fall in place perfectly and then you tighten it all down

Thanks for the tip. Your Z is coming along nicely! :tiphat:

Looking good

The headlights will make such a difference, they did on mine. Red ring should look pretty evil!

thanks! That project is taking a little longer than I wanted. I have all the pieces back from paint. But I've bought a lot of different LED's and tried some different things. I went a different direction with the halo's and want to experiment a little with some diffusers. I may even exchange the XB's I have for the new type they just came out with.

Luciano13 12-27-2013 07:53 AM

I was thinking of adding the red ring in my headlights. Im very interested how these will look.
when u think you'll have them in??

I'm hoping to put them back together in the next few weeks. Depends now on the halo exchange.

Let me try to mock them up and get a pick for you this weekend. I should be able to get them together enough to give you a good idea how it's going to look. I don't think you'll see much of the red unless you're really looking for it. That ring is pretty deep in the projector cover. That's what I'm hoping for anyway! :) I want it to kind of peak through like the brake rotor does through the wheels

Meulen 12-29-2013 08:17 PM

Little mock up of the red ring for ya

Just a teaser! I promise I'll get some better pics when done. I'm going send my XBs back for exchange and still have a little fabrication to do on the diffusers. So it may be a little bit yet.

zeus37 12-29-2013 08:47 PM

In for the better pics! Love it so far.

The touch of red looks wicked. I just may take that idea:tup:

You should! I think it turned out great! I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate a little red on the flasher light as well.

Unfortunately,

I don't think I'm going to be able to exchange my XB's. But, I've got something else up my sleeve and maybe that won't matter to get the white ones. Anyway, I didn't want to leave you guys hanging so I took a couple more pics this weekend while I was putting them back together after the demon lights install. Oh....I ended up changing the way I did those too. Ended up putting LED strip lights in. No cutting, no drilling, just a little 3m double sided tape and some 5 minute epoxy to make sure they stay put.

There's some good shots of the red ring in here too for ya. Without the lens on so you can see it without the glare.

oH!!!....and pleas excuse the work bench! :)

Meulen 01-07-2014 10:24 PM

Oh.... And here's a short you tube on the other features this light set up can do

Great job! Im inspired:tiphat:

Meulen 01-15-2014 09:04 AM

well.....

looks like my front bumper has to come off again! Really didn't want to do it just yet. Z1 sent me the wrong oil lines for my oil cooler. They asked me to take pictures so I took the car back apart and took pictures of all the lines and how I had to loop the one line all the way down to the steering cooler to take out the slack because it was way too long. Aparantly thaty wasn't good enough for them. They just emailed me and asked that I take the car apart again and take pictures measuring the lines. So not only do I have to take the car a part and let it sit while I wait for them to resolve this, I have to take off the line that actually fit!!!!! Not to mention this has taken 3 weeks of emails and them not responding to me. If it had gone any longer I would've just called. But, they've really done a nice job of pissing me off. My $1500 order with them wasn't good enough for good customer service I guess!!!! REALLY dissapointed in them right now!!

Luciano13 01-15-2014 11:45 AM

U know what happens next.... Z1 loses a customer im sure:stirthepot:

so soon into my build too...shame! :icon18:

Here's the latest. They got back to me and are now saying I routed the lines "too high" on the radiator shroud and that's why my lines aren't fitting right.

Let's think about this!..........
I have one line waaaaay to long. Long enough to loop all the way down to the steering cooler to pull out all the slack. If i mounted them too high, wouldn't that take out slack on the line!!!!!! duh! I just said I had too much slack!

I was looking at there insalation photo and how they showed the lines run in front of the CAI. I could never do that with my lines. The other line is too short to pull that off. Which leads me to believe they sent me the wrong line kit all together.

So after all the that, they said running it the way it is won't hurt anything!!! :wtf2:

Luciano13 01-15-2014 03:41 PM

I see your point. But if Z1 says it will work...then it works....:ugh2:
The main issue would be if it is the wrong kit, that the mm\diameter of the lines is the same size....

honestly, it's a lot cheaper to make those lines yourself. I paid a premium for a kit that fit and I didn't have to make. I did not receive what I paid for. :tiphat:

just because it will work doesn't mean its right. sure you can coil up the extra but then its not neat and tidy, and when your showing cars, you need neat and tidy not it works!

Meulen 01-16-2014 11:45 AM

Got my fingers crossed that my lenses come back this weekend and I can get the lights back together!!!!

also, on a side note, my wish list is getting smaller!!!!!.......

from page one...
Meulen's wish list
-KW V3 coil overs
-SPL camber kits
-NST Pulley system (Awaiting Garageline to send me a set of there Pulley's to test)
-Z1 differential upgrade kit
-sway bars or G-spec braces. - Not sure yet!
-Cover visor stickers with red carbon kevlar overlay
-New stereo system with NAV and back up camera
-Aerojacket Type 3 Duckbill Spoiler
-Work gnosis CV201 polished barrel/matte blk

Yes if it looks like @ss and its not the right kit. Z1 shouldn't be making excuses on issuing u the proper kit.......

Unfortunately no. I've been sick as hell for over a week. So I've had to put this on the back burner and catch up with some things

All I can tell you is I have everything close to back together with the lights. But I didn't like the way the lens tint turned out so I'm trying to decide what to do with them before I seal them back up.

Exhaust is due for delivery today and I also got a new TWM shift nob.

Basically, more work to do but no progress!

No pictures really to show either. When it warms up a bit I'll get back to work and take some pics.

How about now... updates!!!

Done being sick yet? :icon17:

Sheesh! Lol

Yes, I done being sick. Just getting back into my workout schedule for my races in California next month. Having the flu is gonna put a dent in that program!

As a matter of fact I just got a pic from the little lady back at the home front.

Here's my similar experience:

I ordered the 34-row kit and received two lines of EXACTLY equal length. They were both the short lines. I took some pictures and sent them to Z1 and they had me send back one of the short lines and they sent me a longer line (only 3.5 inches longer than the short line). I wasn't able to route the line around the CAI due to length so I had to drop it in front of the radiator and around where the PS cooler lines go. It is barely long enough in this config, but it works. I'm not super happy about it either, mainly because I think there should be more slack in the lines to account for engine movement.

thanks. I decided to leave it for now. I, obviously, was having no luck dealing with Z1. So I'm going to tuck the lines out of sight and eventually, either make my own lines or talk to Tony at Fast Intentions about getting some from him to clean it up.

I'm a little nervous though. I bought a lot of stuff from Z1 and haven't installed it yet. I hope their other products are better! They won't see any of my business again though!!

b15 02-13-2014 10:20 AM

I got post MAF tubes from Z1 and the right side was slightly too long and difficult to install. I was able to get it on without trimming after fighting it but I expected better when they charge $108. The left intake slid right on like a charm.

Meulen 02-16-2014 10:29 AM

Some quick phone pics of the progress on the lights. I took the tint off the G35 lens. Didn't like it. Got them glued in and set over night and tested the halo wiring this morning. I pretty much followed the DIY thread but I soldered my wires right into the circuit board instead of cutting any wires.
