It's not that it took longer, I worked my install date around GTM's build schedule and didn't firm it up until I was given a definite delivery date and confirmed it with Sam at GTM.

Then they messed up and shipped me the wrong kit realized their mistake the next day and didn't upgrade shipping on my kit to get it there in time.

That's the bit I'm unhappy about. I know build times on projects like these are hard to control but in this case, getting the kit there on time was completely within GTM's purview and I simply wasn't an important enough customer to make it a priority (a date which I confirmed on 3 separate occasions leading up to finalizing the shop time).

Not the end of the world or anything, just frustrating.

I mean not asking for the world here. I did go out of my way to make sure the twincharger was returned to them unopened. Could have thrown me a bone or something. I dunno.

Also SS Firehawk it wasn't your twincharger. It was a G-37 twincharger that was supposed to go to canada.

Oh and they lied to me and told me it was FedEx's fault and they "took the wrong box" which is odd considering GTM would have had to put shipping labels on the box.

I completely understand your frustrations. They definitely could have handled it better. I get the feeling that GTM is run by a bunch of guys who know their cars, build great stuff, and just have issues with the business/customer relations side of things. You'll get your kit, it'll be exactly what you wanted and once it's installed, all this will be water under the bridge.

I occurs to me now that one of the pieces of advice I should have given you regarding a build like this is not to drop the car off at the shop until every part is in your possession. My build took much longer than expected since the FI 3" exhausts took a while to get out the door, so I know where you're at right now. It sucks, but the end product makes it worth it.

Mostly I'm just fidgety.

dmhenderson 07-22-2013 05:59 PM

I'm a little concerned with my exhaust setup. Thankfully, I didn't go with LTHs or test pipes so the exhaust isn't super free-flowing but I do have a FI TDX and HFCs on it.

SS_Firehawk 07-22-2013 06:02 PM

HFC's on the FI exhaust or the normal location?

dmhenderson 07-22-2013 06:09 PM

Fast intentions HFCs replacing stock cats. I'm not sure I understand your question.

SS_Firehawk 07-22-2013 06:13 PM

They have an option to build in mini cats in their exhaust. Was just wondering. Because if I need to replace my own exhaust due to restriction issues, I was looking at that as an available option (I like having cats)

This is what I'm counting on. Sam really does know his sh*t and was patient with my million questions during the buying process. Their follow-up/customer relations are poor once you pull the trigger but it can't be easy running a shop AND a mail order kit business. They should hire more dudes.

I think the thing with forced induction builds is that an exhaust that's TOO free-flowing won't be able to make boost. I'm hoping the FI exhaust and HFCs are restrictive enough.

Well, build enough boost to stay in it's efficiency range. I'm worried about my midpipe being too restrictive. Instead of 3", it's 2.75". Keeping my eye on my top end results.

Aaaand we have delivery confirmation (hooray)

Chuck33079 07-23-2013 12:08 PM

Now the waiting game gets even more painful.

dmhenderson 07-23-2013 12:20 PM

Anxiously awaiting pictures of the unboxing/taking inventory.

dmhenderson 07-23-2013 12:21 PM

I wonder how much louder the car is going to be. I know superchargers are "quiet" for the most part. With the deletion of the stillen open-ended CAI, makes me curious how it's going to sound.
