NickTurnon's 370z Build
My first car was a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
It was almost new with 10,750miles on it. -20" Gianna Wheels -Pioneer Avicf900 BT Double Din -2 12"Kicker L7s -2 2500WATT p-Tek amps -Kicker Speakers I moved to Arizona and started a job that was 35 miles away from my house. The 16mpg was giving me a hard time and I was having trouble having 4 open seats everyday that weren't being put to use. I sold the trailblazer to a husband and wife that were having a new baby. The car had 54k on it when I sold it. The car was sold for [$12,500] That weekend, I went and got my Z! |
The Mods started to come quickly after purchasing the 370z..

Glad to see you putting together a page :) A lot of us look like we are loaded to the gills with our crazy mods (I guess I can kinda fit in that group too), I liked this. These are things anyone can do and afford :) Looks good, wallet friendly, and sounds great. Performance from drop in's and MAF tubes is similar to long tubes, and short tails sound bad @ss.

Are your dome lights super god damn bright like mine are after putting the LEDs in? Thinking of getting some tint (or something) to put on the inside of the lenses to tone it down a bit. Looks good though man! |

I thought about getting some opaque material and adding it. Just worried about it burning. LEDs are really low energy, I just don't any problems. |
I really was curious as to what my dyno numbers were so i called a few friends and was referred to an awesome guy really close to my house!
The dyno was $35 for 30 minutes. I couldn't of asked for better pricing. I gave him $40. http://s8.postimg.org/wlwlhhitt/20130411_171439.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/739b1l5ld/20130411_172159.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/4zyvtx5sh/20130411_175845.jpg The first few pulls were done without a fan. Oil temp shot up to 220. We then used a fan and I got lower HP but more Torque. I will be taking my car back to him for future mod installs and to UPREV tune the car once it hits 100k or so. He only charges $300 to tune if you buy the cable and software. |
My car was squeaking so bad! Only the back right wheel though.
Turns out it was the skid plate for my brake pads.. So I took off the wheels and installed the brakes myself. It was a fairly easy job for never doing it before. Was quoted $280 for 2 rear pad install. I ended up doing it for $49.99 (Cost of brakes) http://s24.postimg.org/e7d1w7zr9/20130427_114717.jpg http://s24.postimg.org/gna9wbsg5/IMG...427_110057.jpg |

Looking good Nick!!
|
Looks good. Also, you'll get much better performance out of that radar detector if you mount it higher on the windshield.

But I just need to get a better one eventually.. I ran into some illegal activity last night and it would've came in handy! Thanks Chuck |
Yeah, you want it as high as you can get it while still leaving a line of sight out the back for it.
A blendmount or DIY alternative where it's mounted to the rear view would be your best bet. |
I totally agree with :icon18: Go with the Blendmount....Very clean look and everything can be hidden nicely. I've got my V1 mounted and looks great:tup:

nice thread dude!!! BTW thanks for the videos of the AAM short tails... are really helpful :)

Debating creating a DIY for this because I am not 100% sure on how long they will last compared to the FRP material, or the fiberglass ones created by professional companies..
I took a stroll thru Home Depot yesterday (Sat.) and decided to look at different types of materials that could be used for side blades/skirts. The ones online & offered by sponsors are anywhere from $250-400 for basic side blades. I ended up spending about 4-5 hours worth of my time on these, but for the $$$ spent, I could care less if they lasted a few months. If you guys want a little write-up, I can do it. & post more pics. But here are the custom side skirts.. I will probably get so flamed for this. http://s8.postimg.org/4r5jf82fp/20130928_180835.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/9n966x2l1/20130928_180843.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/6rw301yl1/20130928_180852.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/dxnu2i7o5/20130928_180912.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/vvd5k1w7p/DSC_0093.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/h9m4vszf9/DSC_0100.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/fj33ubhw5/DSC_0103.jpg |

Snapped a decent photo with my S3 today after I washed it - Showing off the side skirts.

looks great bro!!!

Lets face it, the 370z is loud inside the car. Especially when you have short tails.
I saw the offers for GTMat on the forum and didn't jump on it. I looked up prices for Dynamat, SecondSkin, etc.. and found that they were $$$. After a bit of research I found a product called Peel & Seal. I can write up a DIY if people are interested. Anyways, I paid $16.99 for 25 ft of it. (I got 2)= $34 http://s15.postimg.org/t2b2t3tzf/352...da5717a1_z.jpg First things first, was I read the DIY on how to remove the rear panels. Everything came out really easily. I had the rear gutted in less then 10 minutes. Didn't realize how large it was without the foam pieces and panels. I took it out for a road test without anything in the trunk and WOW, its like a giant rattle can. Especially when I was downshifting haha! http://s9.postimg.org/qkkrcrzan/20131018_194931.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/x8e3jvnx1/20131018_180615.jpg http://s14.postimg.org/upggjxz4h/20131018_180436.jpg Sorry about the Red lines...Not sure what happened there. http://s7.postimg.org/nlp7dlk6j/20131018_194943.jpg I tried to get the whole back area as much as possible without going overboard. It took about a roll and a half to do the rear and middle cubby area. I then did a couple of road tests and realized I needed to do the door panels. I heard a lot of sound coming from the doors. Door panels are super easy to remove. Just need a little flathead screwdriver, a large philips, and a 10mm socket. http://s18.postimg.org/72mxswwop/20131019_094326.jpg http://s13.postimg.org/4cy8g2yuf/20131019_100815.jpg Both doors took about a half a roll. (10-13 feet worth). Impressions: Road noise has gone down a bit. I stopped hearing little rocks and stuff under the wheel wells. No smell like some people stated. When applying, you will smell the tar/rubber stuff. Exhaust sounds better. Speakers sound like they are easier to hear and less rattle. Overall I am very pleased. It was a fun project and I would recommend it to anyone. Apparently this Peel & Seal stuff works almost identically to dynamat. The main differences are the thickness and probably what its made of. Also peel and seal is not made for sound deadening. Its made for roofers. Good luck to anyone that wants to try this out! I can answer any questions |
Nicely done.
I've grown used to the loud sound and don't even notice it anymore. How heavy is that material? Probably insignificant, but you never know. I remember dynamat being quite thick and heavy. Sent from my iPhone. |

Heck yeah. My buddy and I are out at the Pavs almost every weekend too. We park way away passed the Home Depot (his GTR and my Z).
Won't be there this Saturday, but the following most likely. Sent from my iPhone. |
