Yeah, you want it as high as you can get it while still leaving a line of sight out the back for it.
A blendmount or DIY alternative where it's mounted to the rear view would be your best bet.

I totally agree with
 Go with the Blendmount....Very clean look and everything can be hidden nicely. I've got my V1 mounted and looks great
