Just personal preference. I don't care for the bright orange, green, red etc. wheels that guys put on their rides. Looks too cartoonish for my taste.

I think when you do it right, it looks good. And besides, this car my business-getter. Its an advertising piece so i can attract people and get them as customers for my dip business. I went to pavs this past saturday and got 12 contacts for dip jobs. That a decent night out on the town. I think with some bright red pearl wheels, I will be able to make a better "showpiece".

But i do worry about the attention from ricers, cops, etc..

Also, its summer time, which means my car is getting effin' hot... Getting rid of the anthracite and possibly going white pearl as my next color to cool things down in the summer time.. I just wanna be like carlitos... I will go dark again next fall.

Like Nick says.... if you doit right... you are going to have a car that are going to break necks lol!!! everyone have to look your car... that happen to me right now lol.... i just wrap my roof in gloos black and my mirors in red and everyone look to my car :roflpuke2: even a GTR stop to my side in the highway and the guy dont stop looking to my car... then he said... A bright red will be nice, even on the anthracite, but everyone does anthracite, so changing it up will work better IMO (not that it looks bad).

Ever thought about doing the colour change/chameleon dips? Saw a video on one and it was soooo sick.

It'd definitely get attention. They did it with a light blue base coat too I believe.

Nick bro the wheels dont look bad... but you can try in dark bronze, i think that are going to look better on you color theme

I never thought about bronze.. Hmm, that might look nice!

I'm going to order the chameleon pearls and pigments once I pay off the IRS from my taxes.. So bronze might look funny with that setup. Black is the easiest

Hey nick, i don think the color combination is bad... Have you though on changing the wheels? I think that with the current body color and different wheels painted red, your Z would look sick!!!!!!

Saturday I attended my first car show with Apex Customs, my new 2nd employer. We were showcasing both Vinyl Wrapped vehicles ( 68' Impala ) and my Z Dipped.

I ended up respraying the car last week and went matte/satin black over the anthracite.

The Z and I are currently hybernating...

My Z was rear ended and my nismo rep bumper had to go... :(

Back to the stock bumper. My dip is all removed and I look more stock then when I purchased the car..

I will be doing some things soon though. I just have to wait til' the new paint on the rear bumper is cured 1-2 months before I can dip on it or vinyl wrap it.

You cant tell from the pic, (ill post more) but it switches from green, dark grey, bronze, tan, and copper. Then I blacked out all the accents/wheels

Which car?

It all depends on the size of the vehicle because in the end we base our pricing off the cost of materials. Most cars our size cost roughly $800/850 or so for Plastidip, and then if you want higher end liquid wraps with liquid vinyl, we start at $950. Then things like door jambs, gloss, chameleons, etc boost the price as well.

If you did it yourself like I did, my Z ended up costing around $450+. So you pay someone a few hundred bucks to work on your car for 2-3 days and you get solid work, it makes sense. I know CA is rough on dip laws... but theres a few good shops that I can hook you up with if you need it. A few less than 30 min away from you

Hey Nick, how do you clean your car after dip? I dipped my fangs and everytime I wipe it down it leaves towel remnants or just smears stuff into the dip. I can't get it to look nice after I wipe it down.

Don't take this offensively, but if your towel is leaving remnants, then it sounds like the texture is too rough on the surface of the dip. The last coat of your dip needs to be 100% wet and heavy without running. As it dries, it'll flatten itself out and self level

This is what black dip should look like. Super smooth and then obviously you can gloss it up too to make it smoother...:tup:

So mine looked like the first picture after I did it. The last coat was wet. The towel is pretty soft though, and even if I use micro fiber cloth it does the same thing. It's really hard to wipe at all. The towel wants to stick to the dip.

Try out DipCoat! Its kinda pricey though. About $30 for a spray bottle. Its more for those who have a full car dipped. Anti-Scratch, UV Protection, Anti-Marring, Slicker Feel, Etc..

Another option is Turtle Ice Spray Wax, or EagleOne Detail Spray
Those are both around $5-10

Spray waxes are your friend! Just make sure you use one of the ones I mentioned haha

I learned so much about plastidipping in just a few posts, thanks Nick. I never knew it can be so complex! If I'm going to do my whole car it's best to leave the job for the pros. Your work looks perfect bro. I've seen a few dipped cars in my area and they looked terrible, these guys probably did it themselves out in the driveway lol
