I like the state's response to the street racing issue. Neat idea to promote.

I’ve never run a 1/4 mile in the racing sense. I’m more of a road racer. (Which is where the Z really does well IMHO).
To be clear by road racer I mean closed road course track racing like in the video and places like HPR. PPIR, COTA etc.

Stoptech street pads back on
245/275 pilot sports back on Uselessly magnetic numbers off Carpets spare tire etc back in. She’s a grocery getter again. In related news, I purchased a Garmin catalyst data logger and analytics tool for my next track day in the Factory 5 coupe (cinco de Mayo at HPR). We’ll see if it helps me find any time. It will at least be a more reliable lap timer and video logger than my track addict app. (I think??). It heys pretty good reviews and may be a very cool tool. It may be better suited to more novice drivers, in which case it will be great for my 11 year old son as he starts tracking his 240 soon.

370 fuel pump setup is the Phunks starvation fix variety.
I have no pictures, but long story short an internal file line in the plumbing if that setup began to fray at the end and lose pressure. That caused a lot increasing fuel starvation “stumbles” and ultimately fuel failure. After buying a full plug and play fule sender setup to drop into the tank I ended up just using the new pump (with its better windings) and the old housing floats etc and replaced the deteriorating fuel line. (Which seems odd to be failing) All systems go! Then I ran a track day all systems go. Then driving home from track day my fuel pump failed dramatically because I forgot to move over the top of tank fule line retaining clip thingie!!!! Doh! Oops. Fixed it and all set stems go! Then I started hitting 3500 RPM limp mode Replaced the oil temp sensor and my crank shaft position sensor and All systems go!! (??) She’s been a bit finicky this summer to be sure but a bit like the ship of Theseus I’ll get her slowly fixed up until she’ll basically be a new car lol.

limp mode blues
so I've got a persistent 3500 limp mode.
I've reset the ECU via pedal dance and via battery disconnect. I replaced both the camshaft pos sensor and the oil temp sensor. the Z is now at the dealer who will diagnose why im in limp mode (hopefully) the plan is for them to tell me why shes in limp, then I'll grab the z back and swap out what ever sensors are crapping out or clean the MAFs etc. we'll see how that goes. It might be plugs from all my fuel starve or a bad sensor or O2 sensor?? who knows. Hopefully I can get my high speed grocery getter back on her feet before the snow starts falling and I have to park her in the shop till spring! She ran well for 2 track days this year so no complaints, but its frustrating when you can't get get you street mods running right and reliably. There are so many inputs to the ECU that can cause limp mode that I think (?????) the dealer diagnostic tool might be the best way to get to the bottom of my issue? stay tuned. I'll let you know how they do. (I'm cringing as I type that)

p.s. I bought some new Z1 floating rotor rebuild kits for my brakes ans some hawk plus pads. my non limp mode updates to the Z this winter will be:
-fix LIMP MODE!! -rebuild floating Z1 rotors and swap in some fresh pads and fluids. -go back to JWT pop charger intakes (the stillen long tubes are cool but its to much a PITA to clean the air filters (the bumper has to come off) Ive been all over the map on mods fir this old girl. my favorites have been: better driver feedback like exhaust sound (HFCs and catback and JWT cam), pedal feel (braided brake lines) TUNABLE CLUTCH!!!!!!!! reliability (fuel starve fix) (oil pan) gauges! my less favorite have been: power stuff (funny but again the JWT cam its sounds great but is an unnoticeable power gain from a driver feel perspective) i find myself un-modding a bit now and then like this reversion from the long tubes back to pop chargers. my philosophy now is to only do mods that make her easier to maintain and more reliable and not really try to build extra power. I've pulled off test pipes (because the exhaust got too raspy and janky, the hfcs sound much better) I hardly use my accusump except on track days and the complexity it added to my oil setup is ridiculous. the dynamat i spread everywhere doesn't really seem to make much difference. (hard to say though) I wear earplugs in the Z which makes it nice. window tint is a must! its a great car and i really love it. I've alternatively made it sometimes better and sometimes worse with my mods. In any case its maybe a $20k car with about $30k in upgrades that make it worth maybe $15k lol!!!!! I guess ill keep tinkering with it and give it to one of my grand-kids one day. I could never bring my-self to sell it, shes way too much fun. Its goofed up just enough to feel like a racecar that i can still drive to work. I guess that was always the goal.
