I've done a few sets of Swifts with low cost spring compressors, no issues.... just a little tight!

Once I got my clamps in, I couldn't get the spring compressed enough. It pissed me off. I've lowered almost every car I owned myself and this was the first one that I gave up on and took the struts to the shop.

$100/hour... Honestly Mitch, I'd be glad to help out if you want. I don't have a set of the spring compressors at home, I borrowed them from another Zedmonton Lounge member. He got them from Princess Auto and they work great!
Once the old ones are out, compressing, removing and replacing the springs takes about half hour a side with an electric impact.

I would be all for buying the tools needed as well as beer . Do you need a table vice to do this? I would imagine it would make it significantly easier. I am still starting out my garage collection and have been buying tools left right and center, but there is always something I still need to buy. haha. The Joys of owning your first garage I guess.
Would this work do you think is it similar to the ones you used? They have a few different designs listed. Strut Coil Spring Compressor | Princess Auto http://images.palcdn.com/hlr-system/...20/2920186.jpg

These are the ones I used: I might be able to borrow them from my buddy too. He has the GTM 1.5 Supercharger in his yellow 370Z. Cool guy and crazy build! His car has been in the garage for most of it's life... I didn't use a vice, just held on to the sides while another guy operated the impact to remove and install. I did mine and Chinook's. An air powered impact would help, my cordless unit goes thru about 3-4 batteries to do a set!

I dont understand how someone could spend a bunch of money making a car awesome then not drive it. Mine will be out every day, it will become my daily driver in the summer.

Good to know, I think I will try getting the other ones. Worst case it doesn't work and I take them back. Thanks for the heads up, I probably would have just got those ones. haha.

My buddy is a perfectionist and has a demanding job too. He has done some great work on his car and it is going to be a real track monster when he is done. He has a new Challenger for a DD and works on his Z in his spare time. His 1.5 diff is a monster; darn wheel hops off the ground around slow corners! lol That's why the set in the pic above works, small clamp with a locking pin. Nice and safe!
