nice day and took the Z out for a spin, felt good again...
but tires kept breaking loose, time for tires have put it off for almost a year.
also since having the recaro's put in, the seat is a tad higher, being about 6' 3", have to bend the head a bit

took the Z out for a little drive, been some time, needed to get the battery charged up again, felt good driving it again, came back and cleaned it up... just looking at it reminds me, why I love this car...

just a comment, stop at my Nissan dealership to setup an appoint for 60 month maintenance. they had a 2017 GTR, which looks good with the new front end. They also had a 2017 Z Nismo, which was read, bunch of little updates that I did not remember, most of the switches are all blacked out, and the steering wheel had a red stripe so you know where center is. But it was an automatic, and look like the touring/tech package. Just to pricey for me at about 47000+. The item I really did like was the wheels, they did not look like the old Rays. Just did not like. Just my 2 cents

Attending the first autocross of the year on Sunday, just going to try to have fun and not drive with my right foot. Also need to get some new tires, these are about shot....

well did not make autocross, seems the battery decide enough was enough...
Took to advance auto, battery still good, left for a 3 hour charge...
now have to find out how to keep a battery charged when you do not drive the car a lot
nice problem to have (I think)

Update, well they charged the battery, but it was going bad, cranking power was down, so I bought a red optima battery, partly for the car sits so much....
but its done and running again

Dropped the car off yesterday and build starts,
also order new tires going with what I got last time, but a bit smaller in the rear michelin pilot sports 265/35/19 front 295/20/19 rear

Just got the Nismo headlights that I order about 2 weeks ago, and now I understand why they were so expensive.... because it is a plug and replace unit, has all the bulbs and wires and everything else, just take off the old and put the new in

Also the shipping boxes were a lot bigger than I thought.
So when I decide to sell my old ones, will keep the boxes for they are the shipping containers nissan uses...

Where'd you order the lights from? I've been searching for a set and the cheapest I found was Courtesy Nissan @ $750/ea.

Who has a thread on this, and no, they were 1525 shipped.

The only thing I can say, is that it has everything, take off the old and plug in the new.

it was funny at the tire store, the techs were falling all over the car, looking at the FI Exhaust, asking about mods, runs on tail of the dragon, what color is that looks plum, black cherry you said, WOW your seats felt great, what are they Recaro cross sportsters cs.

one tech got under the car to see the exhaust :rofl2:

& good god those tires are meaty... 295's seems excessive for non-fi application

Well yes, there are smaller than the last ones which were 305's.
Its a fine edge between, wanting an aggressive look, vs autocross..
car is not a DD, but my dream car, to just have fun with.

Got a good laugh today, I went out in my DD (2015 Genesis Coupe AT) and said boy this car feels like crap, always thought it was a pretty good car...

Reason for the feeling, I have been driving the Z for over a week, on a trip and to the mitty at Road Atlanta, now I am in love even more....

Ok, a couple of weeks ago already, went to wannagofast, to see how fast I could get the Z in a 1/2 mile. It was kinda neat, since they have a new timing system (which after lunch broke for a bit, which cut into run times)

I got 6 runs, 5 with times. The interesting part is how fast the car can go to 1/4 mile, but then the last 1/4 mile it dies...

1st run was the best run 122.6158, off 2 miles from 2014.
1/4 mile was 100.5362
1/2 mile was 122.5362

2nd run was 122.3491
1/4 mile was 100.8969
1/2 mile was 122.3491

those runs, were learning how to re-shift, last time it pulled all the way up to 4th and stop
this time with the tune and everything I had to shift to 5th so I would not red-line and then engine start going into limp mode...

The third run was awful, I missed up my shifts, burnt the clutch and it smell real bad for an hour, did not make another run for 2 hours, so that was probably good.

Someone came up and said that not how a Z runs and said they saw black smoke coming out the back (might be new clutch time)

The rest of the day was just shifting at 6k, 6,5K and 7K from a rolling start. seemed ok, but it did cut into the speed.

Got several comments on the Z, remember some folks walking by and trying to figure out the color, love that black cherry changes based on the sunlight

Odd feeling seeing someone else drive your Z, even if it is just the service person at the dealership...

Was reviewing my oil change information, I have the Nissan gold plan, paid for some maintenance up front till 105000 miles. When I checked what type of oil, seems my service contact likes the Z and performance cars in general, oil change was with synthetic.:tiphat:

Kinda weird you only got 100mph at the quarter mile with 330whp. My car stock with an axleback ran 13.29 104.9 mph at 3000 DA. Maybe clutch?

been some time, a couple of weeks ago, drove up to dayton oh to autocross with my son, great time. He beat me again. Funny thing I did learn something from him, he kept telling me to slow down, on a the slow part of the course. It finally sunk in after he beat me on the last run by 2 seconds. It was like what was I doing. But we had fun and we co-drove and were both in the car at the same time... it was fun and that was the whole reason behind it

something pop in my mind, my DD is a Genesis Coupe, never thought it was a sports car, but in some top xxx lists comes out as a sports car.... Hmmm so I own two sports car, but the Z really is a sports car, the Genesis Coupe I would consider a sports coupe....

had a little fun today, took the Z on tail of the dragon, really do not know why I do not know why I don't do it more. Since it is about 35 minutes to the start, in total there and back was about 2 1/2 hours, nice little drive to break up the day....

the only thing odd about doing this today, there were Miata's all over the place.....

Nice thread Dane! I'm excited to run TOTD next year at Zdayz. The thing I'm most worried about are the cops. I've heard a lot of stories in the past. My Tomei will be doing me no good in the sound department. lol

I saw a state trooper, and he was in the process of positioning the car. Besides that didn't see any other, but again, this was Thursday late morning...

life is funny, I was talking to my son and his friend's 240SX had gotten stolen... He said his friend had 5 figures of mods, well that is easily done today. So I got to thinking, maybe I should talk to my insurance company, easily have about 5-8K in new parts. So i called them and they said they would check.

Well the corporate office ask is he racing???? She called back and gave me a heads up, seems like now I will have to talk to corporate... I do not call autocross racing, and I have not tracked the car, and that's not racing either...

So it will be interesting to see what happens, but they are looking at other options just in case.

No common on, been with the insurance company since I was 16, that is now 48 years... Racing, define racing....

LOL, took the Z in for a oil change at the Nissan dealership and saw two 370z while I was out. that is interesting normal do not see anything...

over the past couple of days, been working on removing the headlights to put new ones in. It has been interesting from working on the car, since when it comes to this I am usually all thumbs. But I got the front bumper off, the DIY on headlight removal helped a lot. Did it a bit different, in that I pulled the headlights out to get the electrical connector apart. Then I noticed other things where how thing clipped together, were worn or broken. Hmm, now what to do or how to replace.

Items are like the bottom of the bumper, where everything hooks to the inner fenders, etc...

ok, next off to Nissan to get some parts, so, I can put the new headlights on and fix a couple of these problems, thou I will have to think about the bumper

Frustrating day, went to the Nissan dealership to order parts and there network connection was down, damn computers so dependent we are on them.

Then came home and went to Nissan parts web site, and the damn drawing are so same, cannot get a good picture of what I need.

Guess call Nissan corporate, maybe they can tell me how to get bigger pictures

Spent the past two weeks in Montana on holiday. the biggest surprise to me was the speed limit... 80 mph for interstate and 70 mph on 2 lanes... I heard about the openness, but never thought about the speed limit... thoughts went to having the Z there to run, for it does like to run...
