I think more like 14-15 psi, depends on cylinder pressure. I would say that's enough to go boom though.

Oh I misread your post but 12.1 could last for ever depending on driving habits. I like the crank the boost till it pops way better

Boost controllers work great and are life savers. But are not flawless ever time you choose to go full boost/ full throttle. You'll be fine.
