exhaust or intake by itself: probably not that critical to get it tuned, but a tune will still provide a little benefit (at this point, cost is > benefit)

From my experience, the shop guys typically run the dyno for you. I've only seen one guy dyno his own car, but he was the shop owner.

I try it pretty often on the street, but there are a few problems without the dyno part. I never have enough cable length to keep the computer connected, and I usually run out of asphalt or hit a stop light before I can redline 5th gear

At my local shop, I was able to operate the vehicle while it was tuned. Done it a few times, I just had to sign my life away.

Are you able to PM me about your gauges Gale? I've yet to do anything with mine and my build. I just want to see what I'm getting into.

The triple gauges, yes. I found the Boosted performance turbo kit easier to install than the dash triple gauges. Not that installing the gauges is hard, you just follow the service manual, the BP kit is easier.

The factory triple gauges are totally removed. You can remove the dash to do it properly, or destroy the gauges like shown in one of the triple gauge DIY's found on the forum. I removed the dash. You need to use any method you can think of to install new gauges in their place and have them look good. Check the DIY for ideas. The DIY didn't help me because of the depth of the Defi gauges. You need a good power source for the gauges, battery, add a fuse, etc. you need to use the sending units that come with the new gauges. Cost? No idea, probably book time +++. 52mm fit best.
