Took the Z to work last night  On the way home I did some troubleshooting. I have a ticking noise coming from behind the instrument cluster area only when I get in boost. I had a feeling it was the solenoid from my boost controller because I have it mounted to the metal surrounding the brake booster, this is in line with the area the noise is coming from. Anyhow, an easy test was to turn the boost controller off, thus bypassing the solenoid, good news, no noise. So... I have three options, 1. Live with the ticking noise when I use the boost controller, 2. Move the solenoid, or 3. Isolate the solenoid from the metal in the existing location.

In other news I ran over a piece of tire debris on the highway. I had to straddle it to minimize potential damage. Good news is the body work is a-ok, bad news is it hit something under the car. I'll need to get under the car to investigate but I believe everything will be ok. The car sounds and drives the same otherwise

Get a rubber squish washer to put between the solenoid and the mount. Heck even a thick oring would do the job in place of the washer.

I am so scared to run over stuff on the highway you just cant see around vehicles in front of you till its to late. So far I been pretty lucky.

i ran over a hubcap thinking i could clear it on my lowered G... :shakes head: broke the under shroud. i used my heat gun to re-shape it and used some plastic sheets i had to fix it.

serously considering to get a metal one though if im going to keep my G longer...

The rubber o-ring/washer is what I was planning on. I am a little surprised how easily the noise travels into the cabin.

Yeah, if I swerved to missed the debris I would have royally messed something up. I think I lucked out. I won't have time to look until this weekend.

It didn't hit the undershroud, well, it didn't sound/feel like it. It ended up bouncing around the mid/back half of the car. Wastegates, driveshaft, exhaust is all I have to worry about.

A metal undershroud from Joe at Z-Speed is on the list. I'm holding out because the shipping for the part is almost as much as the part itself. I hate the IDE of spending that much money on shipping. :ughdance:
