Doc V's Project

Hey everyone! So I decided to finally put together a build thread for my car. I got this a couple of months ago as a 2011 leftover (only 50 miles or so) for an AWESOME deal I couldn't pass up. It was basically a present to myself for finishing pharmacy school and finding a pretty sweet first job. Without further adieu, here are my progress pics thusfar:

Here is the most recent pic at an autocross event in South Jersey:

finally an updated video from the beginning of this season with new dyno numbers and alignment from RT Tuning. Fantastic shop for everyone in the tristate area! Check it out:

Nice start I love the side blades. What are your future plans?

PharmDZ 10-22-2012 10:12 PM

I've been toying with the idea of supercharging it but to be honest, coming from a 130whp sluggish Honda Accord coupe I am PLENTY happy with the power for a while. I want to find a not-so-over-the-top carbon fiber front lip to continue the look around the front bumper into the side blades. Not really looking to go crazy with CF, and actually never even thought I'd put any CF on the car. My friend who had a yellow Z had his side blades in the garage and gave em to me for free. I think suspension and new brake pads plus a trip to the track is in order next summer.

ts-c63 10-23-2012 12:00 AM

Do u live in central jersey? I think ive seen you driving on route 9 before!

PharmDZ 10-23-2012 04:29 PM

Haha yes I do TS, and I'm ALWAYS on route 9! Where do you live? I'm in Freehold.

ts-c63 10-23-2012 06:23 PM

Haha I'm in Manalapan.. And here I am thinking I'm the only Z in the area haha

PharmDZ 10-23-2012 08:12 PM

lol nope, in fact I live across from best buy so I'm probably a minute away from you. What color is yours? I've seen one or two in driveways going around Manalapan. I'm always at that meet at Wegmans on Friday nights, even though I think it's done now that it's colder out.

ts-c63 10-23-2012 09:24 PM

Yea your about 2 miles away haha.. I have a pearl white sport package one with a blacked out roof

PharmDZ 11-19-2012 11:43 PM

Need to get the dyno graph (still) - but got the Motordyne M370 intake manifold installed and retuned at JDS Motoring. Ended up with 345rwhp 240lb/ft (thought I had 265 last time, but was mistaken? I dunno, numbers look odd to me). Car feels awesome though.

PharmDZ 11-30-2012 01:26 PM

Eibach lowering springs ordered... just praying that I don't rip my front plastic "sport lip" off the first time I try to get up my driveway! hah

Mr&Mrs 11-30-2012 01:55 PM

It flexes very well

Horrible picture, but I got the oil cooler and lowering springs on today thanks to Jas from JDS Motoring!

Mr&Mrs 12-18-2012 10:58 PM

Looks good they should settle a little lower too.

PharmDZ 12-19-2012 09:03 PM

That'd be perfect! I love the way it sits now, and the ride didn't suffer at all. Not sure if the handling improved at all, but I was happy with it as is after the sway bars. Time to look for a nice front lip now that I know I can make it up my own driveway. hah I'm thinking the Evo-R with the middle carbon fiber piece and sides painted silver. I don't want anything too overbearing like the Mine's CF lip. Thoughts?

Mr&Mrs 12-19-2012 09:51 PM

I like the evo-r parts, do the lip to go with your side blades, then get some rear spats. Simple, clean, and sexy!

PharmDZ 01-07-2013 01:58 PM

Here are a few pics from my friend's photoshoot with my car... also got the Eibach camber kit + toe bolts last night and had it aligned to -1.5 front/back. Drives great!

Car is almost ready for the track this season! I know it's not all dedicated hardcore track car without the coilovers and super-sticky tires but they'll be plans for the future. I figure I'll feel it out with the Eibach springs (plus the car sits pretty damn nice I think) and the stock Potenzas aren't half bad. Gonna be a fun spring/summer season with the car.

Ran into another member of the forum at a car meet the other day and got some pretty sweet shots with a RHD GT-R

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/...120_164644.jpg

http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/...120_164727.jpg

Also had a small Z/G meet this past weekend as well:

Friend got a new camera and decided to test it out... here are two of my favorite shots. Recently added the ZSpeed undershroud which is going to make oil changes a breeze, and new brake parts are on for the upcoming track season!

Mr&Mrs 03-16-2013 05:14 PM

The car settled perfect! What kind of tracking do you plan to do? Are you set up with all your better fluids yet? possibly SS lines?

PharmDZ 03-17-2013 09:46 AM

I'm looking to do a couple trips to the road course. Oil is taken care of with the 25 row cooler and Redline fluid, and brake fluid has been changed to Motul RBF600 with SS lines and new pads. I am thinking about getting the brake ducting but don't know if it'll be enough of a hardcore track car in the future to really be hacking up things on my bumper. Overall I'm VERY happy with how the springs make the car sit. Coilovers are definitely on the list in the far off future but for now I'm very happy with how the car is turning out.

PharmDZ 07-03-2013 09:45 AM

Been a LONG time since I updated this - kind of took a bit of a break from ordering mods for the car since I went so crazy in the first 3-4 months having it. Well, racing season is here! Did my first autocross with the car and placed 3rd out of 19 in the novice class :D also a bonus pic with another forum member here.

Next plan is to get a nice stickier set of tires, maybe on another set of stock Rays, for the end of this season/next season. Today's project is fixing a broken stud though since one of my friends snapped an extended stud on my front left wheel. Blah!

PharmDZ 09-14-2013 09:13 PM

Latest update... and my newest purchase. Picked up a set of Enkeis and Toyo R888s just in time for my first track day tomorrow! I've done two autocross events and absolutely loved it. I can't wait to do more. A little intimidated, but can't wait to get out on the track. Here are some picks of them mounted and ready for track use:

Mr&Mrs 09-14-2013 09:15 PM

Nice update, that color pops with the silver!

PharmDZ 09-14-2013 09:22 PM

Thanks M&M! Haha when I first threw em on I felt kinda "meh" about it, but threw some tire shine on and got it out in the sun... big difference. I'm sure I'll love it even more once I get it on the track and feel what those tires can do.

Mr&Mrs 09-15-2013 12:34 AM

It will be night and day compared to the stock wheels and tires. Those are one of my favorite track focused wheels.

PharmDZ 09-16-2013 09:25 AM

You weren't kidding with the night and day... The setup handled beautifully!!! I was shocked at the amount of grip I had. In my novice group I was running laps around GT-Rs, M3s, and most of everything else out there. My instructor at the end of the day had said I was running fast and consistent enough to even jump to the next group up that was running on their own with no instructor necessary. Wish I had a go pro, but ill get video next time around! Of course I did hit fuel cut once on the predictable long fast right hander. Filled the gas tank back up the next session and was fine.

Are you serious?? 285 baseline and 330 rwhp from NA mods and a tune??? I need to see this graph!

PharmDZ 09-16-2013 01:07 PM

Long story with that one Wheeee. Whatever the actual whp it was definitely plenty to keep up even against some normally much quicker cars (at least enough not to lose them completely on the straight and catch em in the corners).

wheee! 09-16-2013 01:40 PM

Understood... but I am just wondering if you meant 305rwhp....

I have a similiar mod setup and UpRev and went from about 285 stock to 294 rwhp on 94 octane without dyno tuning (plain test run only). My buddy with similar mods was tuned on the dyno by Specialty Z and got 305 rwhp.... Seb was sure that no one was going to get much more than that without cams or engine work...

PharmDZ 10-10-2013 11:34 PM

Some pictures they just posted from the track event... such a good time. Can't wait for my next one:

Meulen 10-11-2013 10:09 AM

VERY nicely done with the engine mods! Car looks damn good with the stock wheels too!

PharmDZ 04-14-2014 12:56 AM

Whole bunch of updates! First off, here is a video I just put together from my first autox event this year and my tuning I just got done at R/T Tuning in Lansdale, PA. Awesome shop. If you're close by definitely check them out.

Pictures with my friend's Integra right outside Atlantic City. They set up a pretty sweet autocross track on an abandoned airfield out there and it makes for a pretty sweet backdrop for pics too. haha

Been autocrossing and racing a lot this season! I've had a ton of fun so far. Here is a video of my last event in South Jersey outside of AC. Ran the Hoosier A6's I've had sitting around all this past year. HOLY GRIP.

Video from my latest AutoX event. I was running my square R888 setup (275/40r18) and on my new KW V3 coils with the corner balance. Also used a new mic setup for the video which ended up getting some great sound from the exhaust. Unfortunately the day after the event I experienced the dreaded CSC failure :/ looks like i'll be taking the trans out and installing a Stage 2 South Bend clutch/light flywheel/upgraded CSC before the last event of the year!

A couple of the winter project goodies that have gone on... time for a retune :D

*edit* have to fix the pictures - Photobucket edit/resize is crap and distorts all the pics. So much for that. Anyways...

Ported throttle bodies from Scott @ Synergy
Set of big ole Nitto NT01 275/40r18 front 305/35r18 rear waiting to replace my R888 when they're worn down
Rear two-piece slotted Z1 rotors

Aaaand was lucky enough to come upon a set of slightly used momentum headers which I paired with Motordyne ART pipes. Hoping to break 340whp!

Wow it's been a while since I updated this... so I ended my first full autocross season in A-street prepared in 2nd place overall. It was a tough class with multiple AWD 4 cyl turbo cars with suspension/tune/slicks. Held my own though, and I feel like I'm getting better with more seat time. I want to do more national events coming up this next year. Here is an action shot from one of my last events:

PharmDZ 11-21-2015 02:32 PM

And also a video from our last South Jersey event of the season... we have a really awesome group down there! This course was almost a MILE AND A HALF long autocross course! Got into 3rd gear three times. Not going to find that often. Such a blast... ended the day 1st in class, 14th overall raw time out of 110 cars. Check it out!

About that time of year again... just installed my z1 engine mounts and arp wheel studs. Cant wait to try out the new Toys R888R as well!
