It had been grinding in 4th for the last several events, and getting a little worse, so its off to Z1 for a new transmission. Apparently, Nissan is on Rev. 9 on the trans with better syncros and stuff and I have a Rev 1. The one I'm getting is out of a 12 or 13 nismo with only around 2500 miles on it.

That blows. Makes me feel good about a 13 then.

Is the 'rev' stamped on the casing or do you have to figure it out some other way?

Mike 04-14-2014 11:31 AM

It should be stamped on the part number, they are usually something like CD40323-0000x, although this particular part number is totally made up for example purposes.

I haven't looked at mine, but I have a fairly early 09

Mine is an early 09 as well. MFG date of like May 08 or something.

Sigh.

Same here! double sigh - let's just stay away from daytona and we should be fine!

Its been notchy and not smooth shifting for a while, and 4th has also been grinding slightly for about a year.

Seems like it was on its way out. Daytona just sped up the inevitable. We should start a pool to bet what parts will break on your car when you go to Daytona :p

Looks amazeballs.

Not much to add, since the build is finished and just tracking it now. Last May I replaced the transmission and last week embarked on rebuilding the brakes.

I also recently had the diff cooler rewired from a thermostat switch to an on/off switch.

Had a frozen bleed screw on a front caliper, and it broke off in place. Ran the caliper through the burn off oven as that usually frees up whatever corrosion is holding it up and tried to use an easy out to get what was left out, but it was still frozen and the easy out busted off inside the hole.

So, I ordered a new caliper for $1000 :(

Ouch! :(

Do you have AP Racing? They have a service where they'll remove broken ones and check / fix threads

Mike 03-08-2015 09:37 AM

no, stoptech

nothing new to post for a while

as the car is all done. But, I picked up my new trailer for it yesterday. 8.5x20 with a side awning, and 4' dragster ramp flap on the rear door for easy loading and a winch installed.
