Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I know what you did and what agins are made with what. Thanks for the replies bud
I have 4 TBs

those that I had with my spare HR engine which where modified and the un modified VHR TB that were also used

yeah those test was done back to back , same day , within an hour with a previously tuned map for each component for a proper AFR

I also went on the dyno after every mods to be certain that was giving power...

Did you ever get to finish the 70mm diameter TBs? Any dynos on those?

Are you gonna dyno The bored intake manifold? Is that the stock one or the HR?

Youre doing projects I always wanted to do.

aww ,, who told you that about those 70mm TB ? Im sure I havent mentionned it anywhere online but to a few select guys..
oh welll..

no I didnt finish the modification on that VHR intake manifold with twin 70mm
only 1 side was completed and then I blew my engine at a Time attack in August..

so the project is on hold for now but as soon as everthing goes a bit better , that project will re-start.

right now the only port match intake manifold is the one from the HR with its 62.5mm TB and this is the one who will go on the engine once its all back together ,, im leaving for a while (christmass vacation)

the VHR is the big project which is on hold. but once completed/tuned then a dyno test vs my Modded HR Int. manifold

the dynojet where I went a few time will be pretty much my only reference VS what I was getting on the VHR last year. which was 330whp STD./321whp SAE

stay tuned!

hi

awesome thread!!!!
really appreciate the time and 'risk factors' you are taking with your zed. Very brave to be doing all your labour etc - but very functional and creative.

I saw a forum member who likes to pop up and give negative critisms - your wing is fine does the job it is intended to do.

Some rep points in order to you sir!!

Im getting anxious to get the car running again !

This is the last developpement of today !
I had a couple days off to work on the project again,
Getting the short block out of my basement wasnt a little task as its weighted at 156lbs ! I was glad I didnt installed the flywheel !!

the Head are now installed on the block !
but only with the tiny HR cams as I couldnt afford the big cams right now because I had to get a bunch of other stuff !
so probably around Fall 2013 they should be in, unless something bad happen !

I like what ur doing but is this just an engine stock rebuild? Are you just rebuilding it just to get it running again? Just wondering that's all

the plan in the beginning after I blew the engine, was to get the HR head with some big cams
but since there is a lot of stuff that I must get first. the budget for the big cams / spring and pistons setup has to wait for a little while

remember the car had the 7AT and now a 6MT conversion is in progress
which I need every parts for the clutch, including flywheel/clutch itself

Im also doing an ABS delete , then new oil cooler had to be bought again
then there is an Accumulator incomming soon.

so forgive me if the rebuilt right now is just only a stock (stroked) HR engine

but, there is also a but.
I already done the head clearancing for the future cams , so it should be quicker once I can order them.

Megan370z, since you have the HR heads installed, how do you plan to keep the ECU happy? Are you switching to a 350z ECU? Also, any specific reason you decided to switch to a 6mt?

the 370z ECU cant control the cam timing.
I got the power connected on the HR ECU to get the ROM for the future tune.

Im almost done re-assembling the engine, tomorrow is the timing chain and closing the front plate !
Once this is done, I will focus my time to fully connect the HR ECU to the 370z wiring and keeping everything.
I got about 75% figured out.

as far as why Im switching to the 6MT instead of that 7AT
there is a lot of reasons why I must do the switch !

- reliability
- performance
- weight
- cost

-reliability; the 7at overheat quite easily if there isnt an oil cooler installed, I had one since 2010.

-Performance; dont get me wrong, the 7AT is a very nice tranny that I enjoyed very much but now since Im asking the car much more than just lapping for fun . the 7AT is too slow react on time , downshifting/upshifting right before a corner or after.
It also doesnt have enough direct feel from the engine.

-weight; it weight more than the 6MT !

-cost; replacing the 7AT is very expensive and that flex flywheel break to easily for me ! after not even 15 000km (98% of highway driving. 2% track)
it already broken at 2 spots
having a broken flex plate, the knock sensor can become annoyed by the vibrating noise and can/will pull timing! it happenned to me for almost a complete year where nobody could explain this.

Almost finish to re-assemble the engine !!!
its my first time doing that kind of job to un-assemble both engine to make a good one !
I cant believe how much time I spend on this !!!! I saved a few K on labour, thats for sure !

There is still some details to work on but this is mostly this

VHR parts ;
- Crank
- Connecting Rods
- lower Intake Manifold
- fuel rail
- injector
- coil packs (not yet installed but will be soon !)
- spark plug

HR parts ;
- Block
- Head w/ oem Cams
- Pistons
- intake plenum

Throttle body are gonna remain the two I had 62.5mm vs 60mm stock.

then the rest is a surprise !
