Just out of curiosity: I don't remember what thread but I read pretty much All the wings have not been tested for the 370z As far as adding downforce and how much drag they create. Same with the splitter. Any particular reason for that wing?

OP - Make your own functional parts, buy only what's necessary and buy it for the right reasons, then put it all together in a parking lot. I like your style.

This wing element was CFD tested and track tested and developed on my 370Z. We went through two versions during testing to come up with this final version. This is the same wing element (different mounts obviously) that is used on many of the top USA time attack cars like GST Motorsports Impreza, Professional Awesome Evo, etc. So although this wing wasn't wind tunnel tested on a 370Z (none of them are), this is probably as close as it gets to a wing made for the 370Z since it was tested and developed on one. The CFD testing is basically a computer generated wind tunnel simulation. The wing profile is based off of a 2008 Williams F1 car wing modified to work better on a street car. CFD data shows that at just 6 degrees angle of attack at 100mph the wing makes 237.5 lbs of downforce and just 19.9 lbs of drag which is estimated to be the equivalent of being down just 5.3 horsepower. So you can see that this wing has a very good ratio of drag to downforce. The CFD testing simulates what the wing produces in clean air, so it probably doesn't do those exact numbers on the 370Z but we designed the wing to sit right at the roofline of the 370Z so the wing is pretty close to being in clean air. Furthermore this wing has a 68" span so a good part of each end of the wing is actually in clean air. The first version we tested was this same wing profile, same size, same everything except it was made to be as light as possible using as little material as possible. The first lap at speed, at around 125mph the ends of the wing that were in clean air broke off because of the downforce. Literally folded down to where the end plates hit my tail lights. Version two added lightweight lateral support beams through the length of the wing that fixed the problem. You can now stand on the wing without it even flexing. So thats why he chose the Kognition wing. Unfortunately, since so many people on here are all about form and don't care about function, he didn't sell a single one so he got rid of the molds to make the mounts for the 370Z specifically. You can still buy the wing element itself, but anyone that wants one is going to have to get their own mounts made. I am bummed that I sold it in the first place seeing as I ended up keeping my Z, but glad to see that it has gone onto a car that wants it for the right reasons!

a 2D wing work best when it is positionned directly into the air path , the GTC300 being a 3D wing would work better if its closer to the trunk. so anyway, someone was selling it relatively cheap and I took it. does it work ? yup as for the splitter well I do not need a scientific to tell me that it does work. can you sponsor me and I will be glad to use your product if I feel that they are worth it. my project in developpment isnt a nice parts ! but custom stuff that I do myself ! ( bigger throttle body and modded 350z HR intake manifold & a new custom shorter CAI ) which will require a different radiator. |

CSCS 2012 Season Opener at Cayuga *TMP*
last sunday was the big CSCS 2012 Season Opener and I was there !
There was some rain but everything went relatively well. THe track being a little bit wet at times which didnt discourage me to try even harder to get the best time ! The event used for the first time a Live timing for the lapping and time attack. Overall I ended to be the 10th fastest of the day ! powered by LiveTiming.net A week ago I went to that same track, a shakedown was needed for Megan ! She had some old RS3 which managed to do 1:20.9. A very respectable time for the car ! Then our lapping session during the big day using a new old set of RE-11 (5000+- kms and 150+-kms on the track) I was only able to get into the high 1:21 at best !! I was quite dissapointed !!! how it work with CSCS time attack is we get 1 warm lap then 3 timed lap and finish with the colddown. I screwed up the first lap but it wasnt my goal to have anything good in the first timed lap because during that day with those RE-11 the best lap was pretty much the 3-4th lap then quickly gets worst!!! winner lap time was ; 1:21.394 at .652 faster than the 2sd place. |

I installed my second oil cooler last week which should help with the oil overheating on the track !
it took much longer than I expected and I was quite lucky with the tubbing ! some relocation and a spare 10AN tubbing that was almost the perfect lenght ! about 1/2 inch too short but it was alright. I couldnt install my alternator lightweight pulley (its been 2 years !) because even after removing the alternator and trying to remove the 24mm nut ... It was a complete fail ! An impact is needed for this !!! maybe later this week I should have enough time to try again and bring it at the shop ! My 2012 budget is my limit and I couldnt go with a more efficient oil cooler ( setrab) so maybe next year I might get a big one instead of those 2 cheap one ! next, I had to do an alignment. (DIY) Since 2 year ago the car hit a wall , the shop who did the repair didnt do it properly so the car never ran straight (1-2% off because even with an aftermarket Toe-bolt that provide more adjusmtent , I was 3/32 off ! so the front wheel had to cheat ! its all fixed as I did a new toe plate !! the car finaly has a proper alignment !!! next , I finaly got my hand of a set of wheel that I wanted for the pass 3 years !!! Enkei RPF1. some might say they doesnt look good on the 370z . but I do not care because of this 4 reasons - Used wheels which mean cheaper to buy ! - LIGHTWEIGHT !!! - TRACK WHEELS ONLY - Stronger wheel than my Rota to handle those very sticky tire ! all four of them are 9.5''x18'' +15 offset with 275-35-18 Toyo RA-1 (not on this picture which are uned 245-40-18) I didnt had time to test them with the new rubber on untill I was at the track and ready to try the new set. I had to roll my front fender a little bit ! soo.. GOOD NEWS !!! they do fit over the 6-pistons AP Racing BBK next , I finaly decided to call Stillen to get 2 new bleeding fitting on my rear left this picture tell everthing ! Last , after all of the track prep required I had a track day at Shannonville (ontario , Canada) which is a 4.03km road course an affordable track to have fun ! Last year I was able to do 2;04 with my previous Hankook RS-3 with the twin oil cooler and a 10'' fan the temp was in average of 115 C. a cool down lap was bringing the temp down to easily 95 C before I attempt some fast lap. the video show a test with both set of tire RE-11 Vs RA-1 |

I would say the pressure would go up because there is more restriction by having a second oil cooler
but I understand your point of view unfortunatly my oil pressure gauge doesnt receive any power right now because I had to use its on/off swith to power my Fan on the oil cooler. im gonna look at it sometime this week !!! |
