Thanks SPOHN ... going to try the EBC thing out just to try something different than the masses.

Yeah I was just joking anyway. Always good to be safe.

... back in March at roughly 7,035 miles I had installed a dual oil can catch set up ... today at 7,915 miles I decided to empty both of the cans just to see how much was in there. Was more than I expected, but more unexpected was the fact that the driver side can probably accounted for about 70% of what is in the bag ... 30% from the passenger side can. Weird, I would have thought they would be somewhat even.

That's about right from what I used to see on my 350. Plus you've been pushing the car hard anyways. I wouldn't worry. Wait till you go big boost one day.

... finally made some progress on my harness and air bag situation, but not as far along as I would like to be. Because I sold the seats that came out, I didn't realize keeping the stock belts was going to be an issue because, well, the latch part of the stock seat belt (the fixed one) can't really be removed from the seat without ruining it. Also, I had a solid air bag indicator, which is normal ... so for starters did the previously mentioned 1/2 watt 4.7 ohm resistor trick ...

http://www.the370z.com/members/sixpa...si1-custom.jpg

... they were only 29 cents each so I bought 10 in case I messed some up. I didn't want to cut the connectors off the floor harness, so just jammed them in the holes and taped it up with electrical tape.

... sadly I am at the moment stuck on the reset procedure ... I know the resistors are working because without them I was getting a solid indicator. Now, it is stuck in reset mode ... only I get 2 long flashes, off, and then 5 quick flashes and off again ... just repeats itself. So more work to do there.

I got some universal seat belts, and just used the one end that would come from the stock mounting location on the seat ... so I at least have use of the stock seat belts now. Just have to adjust those pieces to be closer to the same length as the stock ones were.

...and so I am currently stuck here, with stock belts back in action, the harnesses are installed and ready to loop in the back to the harness bar if it ever gets here. So still need to solve my airbag issue, and get the harness bar in then I can be done.

... according to the service manual, two >> 1.5 second blinks followed by 5 >> 0.5 blinks indicates a fault with the passenger classification circuit. Which makes sense as it is not connected to anything, the pad and sensor is with the seat that was removed. I guess now I need to figure out if the rest of the SRS is functional while this error is present.

Not sure if I agree with your "wife mode" from your tune. If your wife is driving on the highway and gets in a pickle, sometimes an emergency maneuver requires acceleration rather than braking.

Great point ... the car is always on the performance map, even when she drives it, and am going to get the "wife mode" map changed to regular valet type settings when I take it back. Until then, that map will never be used. Thanks for the insight, and taking time to share it.

SES at 7,944 miles ... FML. Have not done anything to the car in awhile to change anything related to SES. Oh well, going to check the code when I get off work and hope it is something easily remedied.

sixpax 06-29-2012 02:32 PM

P0171 and P0174 ... weird. Both banks at the same time would seem to rule out a vacuum or exhaust type leak ... and lean towards something fuel related. Crapola.

...well I go to Sheehy Nissan to discover they are not going to be very "track" friendly when it comes to taking care of the Z. Had to go to Autozone to get the codes read as they wanted $120 just to read the codes. After some phone calls later Friday I finally got to the service manager and got him to understand that he needs to tell his folks that my warranty is not "voided" ... if it is something they can prove is broken due to a modification I have done, then fine I am liable ... if it is not related then they have to cover it under warranty.

Then I fall asleep Friday and forgot car is in driveway ... wife wakes me up that I better move it into the garage becuase it sounds like the trees are breaking apart ... as I dash downstairs the power goes out and I miss a step ... then I find a few branches I had to remove from the car so I could move it in the garage. Dark as all get out, so could not really tell if any damage had been done.

Daylight comes, I start clearing and cutting up limbs out of the front yard and driveway so I can pull the car out in the light ...

... and discover one of the above had done this :( ...

... no power until Sunday afternoon ... it was an overall crappy weekend.

Sorry about your SES ... I still haven't figured mine out yet
