My FI cbe came today. The headers should be here tomorrow. Not often you see the inside welds ground smooth.

Another up-date.

Got my FI exhaust on. It took longer to jack the Z up, then to remove the exhaust from the cats back. It was about 45 minutes to remove it. The right side header took another 1 hr to 1.5 hrs. to remove the stock header and cat, and to mount the FI header. The left side header was a royal pain in the a$$! That was about 5 hrs of mother-!@#$%^ the heat-shield. You have to unbolt it, turn it up side down. Then fight to remove the F@#$% piece. Once out. It becomes a little easier. Notice, I said alittle easier, not by much. I've been working on HP cars, trucks and motorcycles my whole life. This left side is tight to get your hands into. I found it easier to tighten some bolts from under the car. My hands and arms still have the battles scares on them.

The only real problem I have is the traction control light is on, and my steering wheel is pointed to the left. I have no CEL's what so-ever. With the steering wheel and TC light. When you remove the stock header and cat. You have to pull the steering shaft out of the knuckle on the rack. Once the new header is in place. You reinstall the shaft into the knuckle. This is where the problem begins. If you are one tooth off. Your steering wheel is not longer straight, and the TC light is on. My problem is that the steering shaft on my Z is indexed for one position only. I can not move the shaft one tooth position because of this index. Believe me. I've tried for a week on it, with friends helping. Think I'm going to take it to the dealer soon to see what they can do. In the pic. You can see where the shaft is indexed to the knuckle.

Overall. Other then this little problem. I LOVE IT! Thanks Tony. I got to get a sound clip with a cold start. Talk about a beast that needs to be unleashed. Once warm, and running up through the gears. It's just pure music up around red-line.

I installed my F.I. exhaust last october and had the problem with being one tooth off when putting the steering shaft back on. honestly i forgot to reattach it in general at first lol realized it when i dropped the lift, started the car, and my steering wheel moved very easily. but luckily i put a small mark with a sharpie on the knuckle and the steering shaft so one more simple adjustment and it was right back on for me.

i never have had any problems with any dashboard lights though(CEL/TC)

Unhappy

My shaft and knuckle are indexed together. There is no way I can move the shaft one tooth to align the steering wheel back up. The scribe line I put on lines up. So I don't know what happen at the moment.

I'm in Brownsville. A Mon River Rat. Where are you at?

If you enlarge the picture. You can see the index spline on the shaft. This mates with the one inside the knuckle.

I'm like 13 miles NW of Pittsburgh town called ambridge. i know Brownsville. i went to college down in Waynesburg and my sister is at Cal now.

as for the steering issue i looked at the pic and honestly i cant remember exactly how mine looked when i did it since it was awhile ago. when i do my oil change soon I'll see if i can see a difference and take a pic while it's on the lift.

I know where Ambridge is at. Had an uncle that lived there for awhile. Cal. U is about 4 miles from me.

That would be helpful with the pic next time.
