This is a great thread! I just got my '16 Nismo and this thread is inspiring me to hop on the mod wagon. Nothing drastic for now.

Rusty, I am wondering why you haven't upgraded the VLSD rearend. The stock unit is terrible. I think that is the next thing on my gotta have list.

It's on my must do list, but haven't decided on which one I want yet. :icon14: Planning on doing that with the SPL bushings, the Z1 cover, and temp gauge. Also my Power Wagon needs some lovin' too. $$$

I am going to do the Wavetrac. Low maintenance and no noise. No clutch disks to wear out.

Spooler 11-07-2016 05:54 PM

I just priced one from Z1 today. To have one shipped to your door it is a little over $3200. That's with paying the $600 dollar core and keeping your old one. Comes with diff bushings of your choice (Whiteline or SPL) and diff fluid.

Spooler 11-07-2016 09:59 PM

Oh, I forgot to mention it comes with stub axles also. So if your car is totaled, like my old one, you can remove the diff and install the old one. Little pricey but worth if things go south.

Is that for a Quaife?

Wavetrac, completely rebuilt. The whole diff, with fluid, and Diff bushing of your choice (Energy suspension, Whiteline, or SPL). You can even choose which gears you get with it. The rear finned diff cover comes with it also.

Hotrodz 11-08-2016 09:13 PM

Actually not a bad price if you do the core exchange. Regardless it makes the swap easy. Thread jack over!!!:p

Rusty, I just spent the past few hours skimming over your thread. It was VERY informative and entertaining. I purchased my 09 Z brand new, but shortly thereafter got married, bought a house, sent my son to college and then had a baby, so I was beyond broke and couldn't afford any mods. Thankfully things have gotten easier and I started modding again a few months ago. You gave me a TON of ideas and a great resource for install info. Thanks for taking the time to put this together and for maintaining it over the years.

Thank you for the kind words. Hope it helps you in choice of mods. Have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm not done doing mods. Just slowed down because of being on a fixed income now. Retired! :happydance:

old guy 01-04-2017 09:56 PM

I couldn't keep up with that list of mods w/ 2 full time jobs, not to mention a power wagon & a few bikes :rofl2:

Spooler 02-04-2017 06:15 PM

Has the bear come out of hibernation? Just saw you today on the board. You haven't been too active for a while.

Rusty 02-04-2017 09:37 PM

Been traveling. Drove the Power Wagon out to Denver for Christmas. Then down to Bloomfield NM. for New Years. Spent the holidays with the kids and grandkids. :icon17: Drove home. Then flew out to Denver for my wife's brother's wedding. Left the house on 12/20. Came home on 1/7. Flew out on the 1/14. Flew back on 1/23. I'm tired of traveling. I need some home time now. Not planning on going anywhere until ZDayZ. :driving:

Plus my hip has been hurting since 1/20. Can't go back to the surgeon who did the hip. Since I'm on Abomba care now. He's not in my plan that I'm forced to have.

Spooler 02-04-2017 11:32 PM

I hear ya. My neck still hasn't healed. Dr. says I have until the end on June before we know if it will be good to go or I will be headed back for surgery. No fun. I am hoping to well enough for Zdayz. Long drives kill me.

jchammond 02-05-2017 01:49 AM

I plan to make the trip to Fontana this year & get to meet some of you fellow's... guess i'll blend in with the Senior crowd/with a touch of longhaired redneck....My knee surgeon visit is Feb28, to see if my right knee needs the same partial replacement that was performed on the left in 2014'
I may have to put up a tent & sleep in a bag/as numerous calls to the village has netted no result's.....they just say i'll put you on a waiting list.
I guess i could stay a bit away from the village-but doesn't sound like the same.

I called the Village every day after last year's ZDayZ to get a room. I have to call them back to make sure I still have it.

Hotrodz 02-05-2017 06:01 PM

Looking forward to seeing you guys again this year, so get heeled up and let's have some fun!!!

jchammond 02-05-2017 06:44 PM

Hotrodz; you gonna bring some extra corn w/you?

Spooler 02-05-2017 07:35 PM

jchammond, it is the young Buck club. I don't know anything about the old cogger Senior crowd. Who the heck are they? I woke up this morning and I feel great today after 2 weeks of hurting everyday. I hope for more days of the same. I have a ton of work to do to my car, Coilover/SPL install, Wavetrac install, oil cooler install, ATI damper install, and another CJ motorsports oil pan install. I will need new tires in a couple of months also.

Oops, I forgot my new Specialty clutch kit and lightweight flywheel.

I'm bringing some........................................to drink. :yum:

Spooler 03-17-2017 08:22 PM

You stepped up and got your ATI damper installed? Any pointers on rim sizes like yours?

Rusty 03-17-2017 09:21 PM

It's still sitting on the box. Been busy with other stuff. Remodeling the basement and garage.

Rims sizes like mine. Stock height, no drop. 19x9.5, +25 off set with 275/35-19 tires on the front. 19x12, with +28 offset with 325/30-19 tires will sit great. The 345's will poke a little on the sidewall. ;)

At ZDayZ. I won a MA Motorsports diff cooler. I'm going to do a write up on it when I get everything together.

Rusty 05-22-2017 09:03 PM

Here's a thread I started on the install of the diff cooler and stuff. :D

Installed Mich PS 4S 285/35-19 tires on the front today. Paid $301.99 each. Was amazing that I got 20,000 miles on the old PSS's, with 16 trackdays too. Have these mounted on 9.5 wide rims. I see how these will do. Maybe next time, 295's on the 9.5's.

Hey I heard you won the diff cool because they couldn't give it to anyone else. I was told you were fondling the thing so much that it ended up your bodily fluids all over it and so the rest is history!!!
