Sorry for not updating in a while, its been a slow year when it comes to driving at events. Ive really been focused on this new house im building and all my money has been going to that. I will move in this week and am really excited. Was going to sell my car but then my side business, Houston Halos, has really been taking off. Ive been busy every weekend working on other peoples cars, which also means less time to work on mine. But I still want to get out there after I am done with the house so whenever I can I have been slowly getting ready. Here is my proof:
Some drift spares http://scontent-b.cdninstagram.com/h...47154473_n.jpg And my cone gaurd http://scontent-a.cdninstagram.com/h...56786866_n.jpg I recently I had some ideas on what else I wanted to do to my car..a problem creative people have. I even photoshopped the idea and kept staring at it until I finally scheduled the time to make it happen. Ordered the vinyl and came up with this. Old drawing trick from middle school. http://scontent-a.cdninstagram.com/h...18888188_n.jpg Made the line for the knifeless tape and cut. http://scontent-a.cdninstagram.com/h...24623475_n.jpg Made more lines... http://scontent-a.cdninstagram.com/h...09787585_n.jpg Add second vinyl color, cut more and then add awesome decals http://scontent-a.cdninstagram.com/h...01813477_n.jpg TADA! http://scontent-a.cdninstagram.com/h...94140621_n.jpg Also needed to explain what Houston Halos is to the people who see me driving around. These help: http://scontent-a.cdninstagram.com/h...73550898_n.jpg If you notice on that last pic, there are some scuff marks on the bumper. Yes, that means I finally got to go drifting again!! Had a cancellation on headlights so wifey suggested we hit that drift even at Mineral Wells, Texas. Its a good 5 hour hike from Houston so we packed up last minute and hit the road. Only had room for 2 wheels in the trunk along with tools and such but found someone there who had some Kenda tires for sale who would take them to the event. I love Kendas and there was also a tire mounting machine at the eventso everything worked out perfectly! I was really happy! Anyways made a good 20 runs or so learning how to control my car at about 80mph entries. Spun out at first a few times, then learned it was because i was hesitant with the throttle. When I let off for any reason (mainly fear) the rear end kicked around and I spun. Had to untuck the nuts and go at it full throttle. Next lap I entered at about 5k rpm in 3rd gear and then clutch kicked the revs while holding the gas. Revs were bouncing pretty high but it did the trick! As long as I held the gas it kept going all the way to the transition where I had to let go of the gas to flick the car and then get on it right away after throwing the steering wheel the other direction. If I was too slow on getting on the gas the car swung too much and led to a spin. Timing is everything when it comes to transitions I learned and think this event was very successful. Also tried driving with the crap tires I went out there with and saw a huge difference when I went to something grippier up front. Even though the Kendas I scored were 225/40's, as long as I lowered the air pressure to 28lbs they were grippy enough to steer the car at high speed entries. Tires make a huge difference. Next on the list is to install the 2nd rear caliper, find an open differential to weld, and find a cheap solution to getting more steering angle. Here are a couple pics I found after the event. Wish I bought the green gatorade... http://www.the370z.com/members/vdc_o...ft-8-16-14.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/vdc_o...ft-8-16-14.jpg |
I applaud you man. I can only imagine how difficult it is to drift this car, she just wants to stay planted like Nissan Engineers intended. haha.

I actually find my rear tires always wanting to come out when I drive :P Not sure if its because they have already been drifted on, thin width or just gas happy!

Glad to hear you decided to keep the Z bro.
Can you please tell how you get your side skirts off? I'm having a hell of a time unlocking those clips closest to the rear quarter panels. |

Dude! Sick *** thread man I love all the custom jobs youve been doing. Crazy thing is, I realized half way reading through this that you gave me advice and helped me with my wheels through Instagram when I had one lmao. I asked you a bunch of questions on how you painted your own wheels, mine still look great. I look forward to seeing more of your car

More Sidewayz!
So I pulled the trigger on the Voodoo13 steering rack extenders. Getting tired of spinning out. Not having these was the reason I still couldn't get any angle out of my car after shaving the bump stops. So here the are installed.
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...c26e2c4fe4.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...984245750b.jpg These also move the tierod forward so they don't over center in high angle applications. Since I don't have the full $4300 angle kit I don't think it really matters. Now I have to figure out how to make a boot since my old one doesn't fit anymore. Having Mike at NST make me just a regular tie rod adapter that is straight so I can keep my boot. Another issue I am running into is getting my outer tie Rod to screw in more to center the wheel back. Going to have to do some cutting I guess since the inner rod is pushed out a couple inches now. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...cfdebe49e3.jpg Good news is I'll be able to get a few more degrees out of my steering now. I am now able to rotate the wheel until the knuckle hits the arm on both sides. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...ad4a865453.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...0e0e8afac0.jpg Another thing I'm happy about is that my rear rim I'm running up front just barely clears on both sides. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...83c7c345bf.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...ccdc0a2936.jpg Final results: Before 30 degrees, After 45 degrees http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...fd69675ba5.jpg More updates coming soon. Is one of the "updates coming soon" going to be about you buying your old side skirts back? :rofl2:
