Maybe in a few weeks, I got a ticket recently for no plate and speeding so "just in case" I am holding on to it currently. After this is over I will PM you, so hopefully this ticket business gets resolved quickly.

In Austin for the weekend getting new tires put on.
I am currently at 17,5xx miles on the stock tires, and while I think I could go till 20k on them it is time for a change. I am putting on 275/35-19 & 305/30-19 Hankook V12, seems this forum likes them for street use and currently that is all I need.

One other item I hope to complete this weekend is wiring up the rear fog light to one of the center console switches I have. Though this will probably only take about one hour it will all depend on timing and how long other things take.

Long tube headers are still not on the car as my coworker/friend was busy last weekend & I am out of town this weekend. If the schedules do not line up for this coming weekend I will just be dropping off my car at a reputable shop to have them installed.

Besides that it has been just over one year for me owning this car an putting on just over 17,xxx miles has been a blast. There have been little problems, rear hatch springs, some squeks/rattles, but overall this car has been very good to me and hopefully many more years of enjoyment. :driving:

theDreamer 05-25-2010 01:45 PM

Tires are on the car and feeling great so far, will do a longer write up this weekend after I put some more miles on the V12s. Also completed this weekend was the rear fog being wired up, an hour worth of work and it looks great. I have it wired up to an on/off switch so I can control when I want it on.

Next up on my list of things to do over the next 2-3 months is upgrade the brakes, here is the current list of upgrades. I would love some input on changes, better items, etc. My main focus is street driving currently:
~Fluid - Motul RB600
~SS Lines - Stoptech
~Pads - Hawk HPS
~Rotors - No clue (Considering slotted)

I plan on buying the lines/fluids this week or next, but I am going to wait to do the whole install once I have everything as it will make it easier overall.

RCZ 05-25-2010 03:50 PM

Dreamer, I wouldn't waste money on rotors. The stock ones are plenty for the street and even fine on the track. Unless you want the look! Not sure why you need race fluid for the street either. It will just absorb moisture and become crap sooner than regular fluid. If you aren't tracking the car, your brakes will never ever reach temps.

Any suggestion for a different fluid then?
One reason I post this so I do not waste my money on something I will not need, plus you guys know more than.

Just got off the phone with Secret Services Auto in Houston and I have made an appointment for Tuesday June 1st to have my headers installed and an Uprev tune. I was going to wait a few weeks after the install to get it tuned, but they have a discount going right now on the tuning process and I am going to get it anyways so may as well save a little bit of money.

Hey there! It looks like you've had your Pioneer Z110BT for about a month and a half now. How do you like it? How is the iPod integration? Does it sound any better/worse than the stock head unit? How is the navigation? How is the Blue Tooth reception? Have you found any issues with it since you've owned it?

I'm actually looking to by a new unit and I was set on getting a Kenwood 9140. However, I've been reading about a lot of issues with it (concerning an important feature to me, iPod integration) and was just wondering how someone who owned a Z110BT liked it. Thanks!

theDreamer 05-30-2010 12:08 PM

I have really liked it, and definitely a huge step above the stock radio. I have not used the iPod integration (had a cheap MP3 player I was using, but it died so soon I will be getting an iPod), but my friend also has the Z110BT and loves the iPod integration, when I am in his car and use the iPod it is very fluid and quick. Bluetooth has been good, driving above 60mph I definitely have to talking very loud because of the Z road noise but most people hear me fine and I hear them perfectly. Navigation has been good the few times I have used it, but not sure how it compares to the Kenwood units.

You should talk to AK370Z on this forum about the Kenwood unit, I have no problems with the Pioneer Z110BT and would recommended it personally. Each headunit (Pioneer or Kenwood) will probably be great for you, I would look at the extra features you might need. Things like outputs for speakers or amplifiers, extra inputs, etc. are usually the more important factors since navigation, iPod, etc. are usually similar across most lineups.

Project Yume eh?
Great name for a project i must say!

Smallywood 06-14-2010 06:02 PM

Dreamer- did you notice "improvements" with the short shift? I hear there's really no reason to change on the Z. What's your review of the change?

theDreamer 06-14-2010 06:04 PM

Thanks. :)
Sorry for the lack of updates everyone, the long tube headers are on the car and I have had the car tuned by uprev. Some quick mini reviews:

Long tube headers:
These definitely open the exhaust up, where as before with just the berk exhaust it sounded like a deeper slightly louder stock exhaust. This setup completely roars now, under 3k it is a bit quite which can be nice when driving around town or just going to the office, but as you get above 3k it opens up quickly. Wide open throttle is a blast, most of the time. The one downside to the LTH with Berk exhaust is I have some rasp now. Now is this the berk exhaust of the LTH? Not 100% sure either way, but over the past few weeks with them on the car I have come to "enjoy" the sound more, even with the bit of rasp.

Uprev:
Now I got the car tuned right after the headers were on the car so no true way to do a "butt dyno" on how the tune really helped. I believe they told me I gained around 5-8HP from the tune and around 10 pounds of torque across the entire power band. Overall the tune has left me very happy because the car feels more responsive down low and seems to not be as laggy when starting from 0.

For those wanting exact numbers: 289whp & 225lbs of torque
I will try to scan in the dyno sheet tonight or tomorrow, also this was on a Mustang dyno in around low 90s temperatures (early Texas summer weather).

The reason I did the change was not for the shorter shift as the Z has a pretty short throw from factory, but to remove all that rubbery/sluggish feel in the stock shifter. With the B&M it feels more mechanical and I feel more confident going in or out of gears. I did have a slight rattle around 6k RPMs when I first got it in 3rd gear, but that has gone away.

I would say the rasp is from the LTHeaders. The Berk HFCs gave my car rasp at start up but goes away within 5 minutes of warming up. Does the rasp go away on your ride after warming up?

theDreamer 06-14-2010 06:26 PM

It will not go 100% away, but as the car warms up it will lighten up a bit. It is one of the sides of LTHs, but one I choose because of the long term plans.
