Caravan blacked his valence out too. DIY YO!

I will probably leave the rear valence along since I have the fog light back there.

The shop is Sunrise paint and body. They will paint the fangs and rear valence for $160. Not sure about adding the vinyls though.

I still want to black mine out, i am still debating about the fangs because i like them so much and this seems to be a growing trend. Why change if everyone does.... then it just seems like going from stock to a newer version of stock.

theDreamer 04-19-2010 03:00 PM

Everyone is doing it, per say, but I think the black headlights with the black fangs might compliment nicely, especially with PG. Though since I am doing headlights first it will give me a chance to see how they headlights look and if I want to contiune it, plus vinyl is reversible.

And I am home finally, and awake. Great trip up to Dallas meeting again Caravan, Vipor & Mech. All the headlights turned out great, and the trip was well worth it. Currently no night time pictures but will try to get some soon. Now the important part, pictures:

theDreamer 04-25-2010 11:25 AM

It definitely was, and I had a nice ride home...will explain more later.

Caravanshaka 04-25-2010 11:35 AM

uh oh, I told you not to get a ticket =P

JB-370z 04-25-2010 11:38 AM

These look great!!! To bad I don't have the time for installs like these:( I will have to send mine out to the pro's at some point. Might have them done at the same time my car goes to Sam @ GTM for turbo install. Knock out two birds with one stone. I cannot wait to see them in person! Looks like yall did a high quality job! I am jellous now....

theDreamer 04-25-2010 11:43 AM

It does take a bit of time.
I arrived in Dallas around 7 and we started to take my car apart and slowly worked on them until about 10-11. The next day was prep and then paint which was the easiest part, and then putting them all back together. Overall I think the estimate of about 8 hours from taking them off the car to putting them back on is about right.

oo7mech 04-25-2010 08:39 PM

After seeing all the parts out, and the work yall did. Its pretty cool to see the finished product

neveucd 04-27-2010 09:48 AM

I blacked out my fangs following the diy and then driving back and forth from Houston to Port Arthur rock chips f'd that up quick. So I put the carbon fiber fangs over it. Anyway when's the next meet at uptown Dreamer? I'd like to meet other Houston Z owners and see ur headlights?

theDreamer 04-27-2010 09:49 AM

Next meet up in Houston should be May 8th, second Sunday of each month Z/Gs meet at Uptown park. I should hopefully be there, but never 100%.

theDreamer 04-28-2010 11:02 AM

UPS just dropped out a nice package at my office. :D
Install is being scheduled for this weekend, hopefully, just opened the box and will be going through everything to verify I have everything we need.

Well last night was a very long night, with no results. :(
We spend probably four hours working on some of the bolts on my car with no luck in getting them to budge. We broke a few swivel heads and some 12/14mm sockets, so in the end we just called it and I will be dropping some money on a shop to do the install. My friend is pissed he could not do it, but in the end he did not want to get to that point where we are stuck with one header on & one off and we cannot move forward.

Currently calling around and getting price quotes from shops, but it seems many here are Monday through Friday shops so I will be picking one on Monday.

Caravanshaka 05-01-2010 09:39 AM

I believe we can call this Ford fail. :rofl2:

I do not know why they are so damn tight, but damn they do not want to come off. I have talked to Secret Service Auto in Houston and they gave me a price quote and said the earliest is Wednesday or Thursday. Going to wait till Monday since some shops I know are not open on the weekend, was hoping to get in Monday at the latest, but it may be longer now.

BOLIO 671 05-01-2010 10:31 AM

Sounds like the same problem Semtex had

Were yall just using hand and arm strength and straight on socket? I was talking to a guy last night about cars. We got to talking about exhausts. He mentioned that he had to use a special tool for breaking the tight lugs off. Breaker bar or something.
Or rubber mallet?

JB-370z 05-01-2010 12:47 PM

Too bad you dont have my huge compressor and air tools :stirthepot:

Still probably would not have help. :(

JB-370z 05-01-2010 01:36 PM

700 ft/lb tq would not help??? Use a snake extender with the right socket, and get that mother right outa there. I guess you need to let the pro's at secret services step in and put those bad boys on. I told you about 3 weeks ago "Good luck getting those bolts off" I knew it would not be easy, but I wish you luck & hope to see these in action soon.

I have called them, they said the earliest is Wednesday, going to call a few other shops just in case.

neveucd 05-02-2010 03:09 PM

Funny, I have them all on my list, but Jtran & Awesome Z are closed on the weekends so I will be waiting till during the week to talk to them.
My friend is thinking of having another go at the headers maybe, he does not like to get beat and I do not blame him.

theDreamer 05-02-2010 04:30 PM

A few weeks ago I broke my hood prop clip and have been using a zip tie to keep it secure, today I bought hood struts instead of fixing just the plastic clip. The website says they are on back order, but hoping to get these ASAP.

lol sounds like my friend who installed an entire twin turbo system on my old g35 with only a Jack, stands and wrenches in his one car garage...took a lot of determination not to give up and let a shop do it easily..and friends are cheaper ; ) hahah
