Well, for those in Houston, Langley is back working in the car world and send the Z off to be put back together by a professional. Life being busy I just want the car together so I can enjoy her again, hopefully start the new year off right.

Yep, Langley only started the middle of last week on the car, was waiting on a new SC oil cooler and then the fittings on the old one were frozen on so that took another few days.

Going to run it a bit as is, get some running time on the car and then decide what we want to do with the fuel setup. Still looking at e85 but the snowball keeps getting bigger, might look at picking up a GTR manifold which requires other upgrades....:shakes head:

Can you run it as-is without the fuel upgrades?

Yeah, the last tune we had done probably covers 80-90% since in the end, the charge pipes Gamma sent were wrong so the only real change was the new intake pipe to the SC. We think that if we stay under 4-5k and no hard pushes (basic driving) the tune & car seems to run the same. Especially since boost does not even start building until 3,000 RPMs so really it just runs as a normal car with a big whiny piece attached.

Hopefully we managed to give Jason a decent head start putting it back together.

Yeah, saved him a few steps on already having the SC in and the motor mount, he basically bolted the rest on and got her started very quickly. Did uncover that some alternator wires were burned up so needed to replace those and did some cleaning & re-routing of wires with the new SC intake to make sure nothing rubbed or got over heated.

Was he able to get that hose on the sc without pulling it back out?

I think so, he had to take the alternator out I believe to do so but much better than removing the whole thing.

Much, much better. We were going to have to basically start over again, and those damn allen key bolts did not like being tightened and loosened over and over again. We were going to strip one of them out at some point if we had kept at it.

Yeah, those bolts....probably would have been smart for us to take off the exhaust manifold but who wants to do it the easy way.

Dreamer are you planning on running the 1.5 kit with the stg 1 2.5" charge pipes or are you waiting for gamma to send the right ones? Both you and Kentmo280z received incorrect parts, making me a bit skeptical about pulling the trigger on this kit.

Chuck33079 01-18-2017 11:39 AM

Yeah, we'd have been done by day 2 had we bit that bullet. Oh well.
