Fawkkkk...

Caravanshaka 07-23-2010 01:28 PM

sounds similar to what happened with Shumby's car, so I think a good place to start woudl be to work with their results first and see if putting stock headers/cats back on brings the boost back up.

I'm not saying it's the RIGHT solution (those headers can't be causing it directly), but it would be a start.

thats one way the other (easier) way is to use a different pulley on the supercharger and see if they can get the boost numbers to pick up.

Also It would be nice to compare graphs of this run and a 370z with stock exhaust and this supercharger. Just to see whats going on

true, if they have another pulley readily available to test in the shop.

$108 per Horse, good deal......:tiphat:.

So I was off 30RWHP

I guess you need the new pulley as well?

I told you rednek01.....Welcome to the world of VQ motors! :tiphat:

The 350z, guys were lossing 1lb or 2 of boost when using high flow headers. So why would the story not be the same with the VQ37, it is.:tiphat:

Boost.... pah, just get a big American V8 and drive on.....

Dreamer - Get back to work, your boss is pissed at you for the amount of time you spend on the phone discussing LTH and Supercharger thingimijigs......

Adding headers increases your volumetric efficiency, which in turn lowers boost WITHOUT a loss in power. I'm still lost on this GTM + LTH issue.

Thank you finally somebody understands!!!!!

JB-370z 07-23-2010 03:04 PM

HAHA I totally understand but in the world of VQ motors this does not apply for some reason, and ask any of the 350z guys...They don't know as well! But it is known that high flow headers lowers the boost! That Mustang of yours running good? You should bring it out to one of our many outings ;)

LiquidZ 07-23-2010 03:04 PM

:hello:

I got it a long time ago.

He isnt losing PSI from it being a VQ motor. He is losing it because of other factors.

The Kit was designed for a Stock 370z with stock exhaust therefor they made a pulley that produced 8 lbs for a stock 370z.

His car has very free flowing exhaust (due to the long tube headers and berk cat back, and lack of cats) which makes it much more efficient so it will take a different pulley and tune in order to get the 8lbs of boost.

So what needs to happen is he needs to get about a 10-12lb pulley and re tune.

I would love to bring the stang out it runs great! I would love to see your car and others that Matt and I have talked about, however I have a pregnant wife at home so getting out isnt as easy anymore!

Caravanshaka 07-23-2010 03:14 PM

he's not making MORE power with Less boost thought. He is making more power at the same level of boost than he would with stock exhaust though.

Basically. His efficient setup causes that pulley to only push 5.5 lbs of boost. If he replaced his exhaust with stock components, he would make 8 lbs of boost, and would make more power than his current setup. HOWEVER, if he gets his current setup up to 8 lbs of boost by way of a new pulley, he will make MORE power than the 8 lbs of boost did with stock exhaust.
